Suspect charged in pawnshop stabbing

Marietta, Ga., police charged an 18-year-old man with aggravated assault with intent to murder in the stabbing of a pawnshop employee during a robbery. Tomas Lopez Torres Jr., of Marietta, had been arrested for the armed robbery of a Chevron gas station, police said. During questioning by detectives, Torres confessed to the April 14 attack at The Hock Shop. More

Gold edged up as bargain hunters lifted prices from four-month lows, but gains were capped as an inconclusive Greek election raised the risk the country could exit the euro zone and fanned fears of a worsening debt crisis in the region. First National Pawn in Kalispell has recently seen a big increase in the number of stolen items coming into their store. Alabama community pawnshops work with police to solve crime

Police in Bay Minette, Ala., said there could soon be more arrests in the burglary ring that led up to the death of a 17-year-old girl in April. The suspects allegedly broke into homes, storage units and an area school to steal anything of value. Items like a stolen tanning bed were found by authorities in pawnshops. JB's Pawn Owner Thomas Hayes said police did not visit his Bay Minette pawn shop as part of the investigation, but said he has had patrolmen come to his store looking for stolen goods before. More
