Worldwide gold jewelry demand increases 3 percent
Forbes
Demand for gold jewelry by volume continued its growth of the past few quarters based on consumers across the globe (with notable exceptions) taking advantage of a year-over-year 21 percent drop in the price of the precious metal, according to a report by the World Gold Council. Economic recoveries in some countries also is viewed as a contributing factor for this continued growth.

Employee: Suspects unknowingly try to pawn goods at shop where owner works

Items stolen from a pawnshop employee's car in Anderson, South Carolina, ended up being pawned at the very business he works for, according to an employee at B&B Sporting Goods and Pawn. A police report was filed recently about a car break-in.

FCC busts online retailer for counterfeit smartphones

The Federal Communications Commission issued a citation to a California-based online electronics retailer for importing and marketing counterfeit Samsung and BlackBerry smartphones. The FCC's Enforcement Bureau found that Panasystem has been importing smartphones marked with unauthorized or invalid labels, which falsely state that they were certified by the FCC.

Mom, stepdad accused of stealing, pawning teen's electronics

In the dispute between Alexis Walters and her parents, it's hard to tell who's acting more like a child. The Las Vegas police and Clark County, Nevada, courts are here to figure it out. Walters' mother, Shanna Silva, 36, and stepfather, Andrew Sicad, 32, were each charged with five felony counts of burglary and possession of stolen property after their daughter accused them of stealing and selling the electronics they helped her purchase.
