A group in Florence, S.C., recently came together to remember a man killed while working at a pawnshop. The money raised at the event will go to the family of Stephen "Chris" Deaver. He was working at Rick's Pawn Shop when he was shot in the chest during a robbery and a female co-worker was hit in the head. Deaver died and his co-worker lost her sight in one eye.

The U.S. Mint's sales of American Eagle gold coins in May more than doubled from April as prices of the precious metal declined. Sales were 53,000 ounces, compared with 20,000 ounces in April and 62,500 ounces in March, according to the Mint's website. Sales of American eagle silver coins rose 89 percent in May to 2.88 million ounces from April. More

Pawnshop stabbing suspect charged in 4 heists

A Marietta, Ga., teen charged with stabbing a pawnshop employee in a robbery and nearly causing his death has been implicated in three other violent heists in the area. When asked by investigators why he committed the crimes, the suspect, Tomas Lopez Torres Jr., 18, said "people were forcing him to commit these crimes," Marietta police Detective Matthew Parker told the court. The teen did not elaborate. In the attack at The Hock Shop, at Cobb Parkway and Gresham Road, Torres repeatedly stabbed a store employee who Parker said "was eviscerated and left for dead." More
