The word "pawnshop" conjures up a certain seedy, film-noir glamour. The Beverly Loan Company is nothing like this — it may be a pawnshop, but there's nothing shadowy or seedy about it. Known as "the pawnshop to the stars," clients are generally businessmen or celebrities. As you can imagine, owner and CEO Jordan Tabach-Bank has seen some fascinating items come through his family company — from Oscars to Picassos and giant yellow diamonds. Now, Tabach-Bank is lending his expertise to the Discovery Channel's new show, Final Offer. More

New pawn, gun shop proposed in Lindale, Ga.

A request to open a pawn and gun shop in Lindale, Ga., will go before the Floyd County Commission later this month. Steve Wright of Aragon said the 10-year-old building was designed as a pawnshop, "with bars and security," but never used as one. Most recently, it housed a tax preparation office. More

The North Cornwall, Penn., supervisors voted 2-1 in favor of a pawnshop ordinance in an effort to deter crime in this township. "With something like this in place, we could actually monitor exactly the information we need reported to us," Police Chief Todd Hirsch said. "It would be required that information is reported to us in a very timely manner. I think it would be good for the protection of the public." More

Things are back to normal over in Panama City, Fla., after a high-speed chase leads to a robbery suspect reportedly committing suicide.
