Whitney: Behind the curtain at Badlands Pawn
Argus Leader
If you're tired of hearing about Chuck Brennan, raise your hand. OK. That's fine. I understand your frustration. The Dollar Loan Center founder and multi-millionaire is all over the news lately, planning the "Disneyland of pawn shops" and taking over Huset's Speedway while bracing for a ballot measure that threatens to shut down payday lending in South Dakota. Still, the Badlands Pawn concept is intriguing, no matter what you think of the three G's (guns, gold and guitars) or the pawn industry in general.

Buying a gun legally in the US isn't difficult
    USA Today
The South Carolina man accused of murdering nine people at a Charleston church bought the gun used in the shooting from a dealer with money he got from his parents in April for his birthday, authorities say. In doing so, Dylann Roof, 21, would have had to go through a background check — a test he appears to have passed despite previous arrests for drug possession and trespassing. After more than 200 other mass shootings over the past decade, the Charleston shooting has put a renewed spotlight on the widespread availability of legal guns in the United States.
