First Cash stock plunges after company cuts forecast

Pawn store operator First Cash Financial Services cut its earnings guidance for the year because of falling gold prices and volatility in the Mexican peso. Its stock fell 10 percent in extended trading. The company also said it is buying 19 large pawn shops in Texas for $70 million. First Cash said it now expects to earn $2.75 to $2.90 per share for the year, down from $3.10 to $3.24 per share.

Gold says his 50-employee business attracts 1,000 customers each day, who put down items they own in exchange for cash, agreeing to pay it back with 3 percent interest within three months.

Record sales for Smith & Wesson

Barraged with a surge in demand for its firearms, Smith & Wesson is vowing to continue to ramp up manufacturing. Smith & Wesson also reported that its gun sales jumped by 42 percent for the 2013 fiscal year, which ended on April 30, compared to the prior year. The company reported record sales of $587.5 million and said that diluted net income more than quadrupled to $1.18 per share.

Mobile payments company Square has launched an online marketplace, an offering that an analyst said is similar to those from eBay, Amazon and Etsy, where merchants can sell products to consumers.
