Ohio museum buys McKinley tiara from Vegas pawnshop

A tiara that once belonged to President William McKinley's wife has gone on display at the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum in northeast Ohio after a hurried fundraising campaign to buy it from a Las Vegas pawnshop. Relatives who had inherited Ida McKinley's diamond-accented headpiece sold it to the pawnshop featured in the History Channel show "Pawn Stars."

Sioux City Council in Iowa to vote on pawnbroker e-filing

The prints clearly were done well. Full of swirling background lines and full of action, they showed scenes of an apparent political execution and violent revolt. They were signed in pencil, "Méndez," and dated 1950. All we knew was the union legend: A Chronicle copy editor and Guild officer, the late Rex Adkins, had spied the old linoleum cuts through the window of a Skid Row pawnshop in the early '80s when returning to the office from lunch.

WGC — Gold industry resistant to price benchmark replacement

Gold producers and consumers are resistant to a wholesale redesign of the existing price setting benchmark known as the "fix" despite increasing regulatory glare, a discussion held by the World Gold Council found. The debate hosted by the gold mining industry group was attended by 34 delegates from investment funds, refiners, exchanges, and other industry bodies.
