Don Budd looks through the iron bars near the checkout counter of Central Pawn in Kansas City, Kansas, waving a visitor through a door and past the vault and up the stairs. "No names," the shop's owner says, a reminder of an important part of his business model. He enters his office and motions toward a counter, where the Lombardi Trophy from Super Bowl XXIX sits.

California bills put tighter rules on gun sales, end semi-automatic handgun loophole

Oregon man accused of stealing, pawning military equipment in Florida
The Oregonian
A former Oregon student is accused of stealing two military night vision goggles while working at a U.S. Army Reserve Armory in Florida and pawning them for $1,000, a fraction of their worth. Staff Sgt. Jorge Solorzano Jr., 29, was arrested July 1 and appeared in federal court in Florida the following day on a charge of theft of government property, court records show. The filings did not indicate whether Solorzano entered a plea during the July 2 hearing.
