Note from NPA Executive Director Dana Meinecke

Dear NPA family,

The National Pawnbrokers Association, in partnership with MultiBriefs, is excited to announce that its Weekly NewsBrief is expanding to a twice-a-week publication.

Since its premier in 2008, pawnbroker professionals have stayed informed with up-to-date industry news with this professionally edited electronic newsletter. The content is gathered from an expansive list of sources, including The Associated Press, The New York Times, USA Today and other leading news publications to provide a snapshot of what's happening with pawnshops in your community, around the country and even overseas.

With the popularity of NPA's Weekly NewsBrief among readers as well as advertisers, the need for additional news and information became imminent. So, starting Thursday, Aug. 2, our publication coverage is expanding to include business management and marketing tips; and identify best business practices to keep NPA members at the top of their profession.

Pawnshops go upscale
Asbury Park Press    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Pawnshops sometimes specialize in or exclude certain types of assets. An upscale Atlanta firm called Chapes-JPL cites an expertise not just in diamonds, watches and jewelry but also in designer handbags and luggage. Expensive wine collections are another area of expertise. David Goldstein, Biltmore's president and a veteran jewelry retailer, emphasizes diamonds and jewelry, among other items, but he doesn't deal in firearms or guitars. He and various other collateralized lenders also provide auto-title loans on lien-free vehicles. More

NRA, gun industry once again mine profit from paranoia
The Atlanta Journal Constitution (blog)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
In the health care debate, we've all watched as the proudest single accomplishment of a self-described "severely conservative" Republican governor has somehow been transformed into proof of Marxist intent once that same plan was adopted by a Democratic president. It's political alchemy at its best. In fact, as testimony to the power of propaganda, that one’s hard to beat. It reminds us that if people really want to believe something — even something manifestly ridiculous, illogical and countermanded by facts — they will still find a way to do so. More
