The Barbourville City Council in Kentucky wants all pawnshops to keep computer records of how they got the items in their store in an effort to reduce crime. The policy is already in effect in at least one pawnshop. Each transaction at T and L Pawn is logged into a computer. The employees record the item and the seller's personal information. "It's great. Anytime a police officer comes in, we can pull up anything we buy, pawn, or sale for that matter for them to see, and it's just really effective," said Teresa Gray, owner of T and L Pawn. More

Cops: Man with crutch, cowboy hat robs Pennsylvania pawnshop

Pennsauken Police in Pennsylvania is searching for a man who they say robbed Joe's Jewelers minutes after the store opened. Investigators say the man had a limp and walked with a single crutch. He was wearing a cowboy hat when he entered the store and told the woman working at the shop that he wanted to pawn a gold ring. More

Lexington County, S.C., deputies are searching for a suspect they say tried to break into a pawnshop with a pickup truck. Officers say the incident took place at Y B Broke Gold & Pawn. Officers say the suspect used a white or gray Ford Ranger pickup to hit the building. Despite his efforts, he was not able to make off with any items inside the store. More
