Weeklong Curfew Issued for Houston

Houston's police chief issued a weeklong nighttime curfew for Texas' largest city, a day after Hurricane Ike barreled ashore just southeast of there. The citywide curfew, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., will be in place until Saturday, Sept. 20, Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt said. Police have made about 30 looting arrests in the 24-hour period. Hurtt says the looting arrests were burglaries at pawnshops, convenience stores and auto-parts stores. More
