Pastor arrested in 3 Kentucky pawnshop slayings

A church pastor was arrested in the slayings of three people last month in a central Kentucky pawnshop that placed a nearby college on lockdown. Police in Danville, Ky., said they arrested Kenneth A. Keith, 48, of Burnside, Ky., on three counts of murder and one count of robbery after officers searched the Main Street Baptist Church in Burnside where Keith is the pastor, the church parsonage where Keith lives and Gold Rush Buyers, a jewelry store Keith operates in Somerset, according to a news release from the police department.

Somerville, Mass., pawnshop offers World Series ring

Visitors to Davis Square — a major intersection in the northwestern section of Somerville, Mass. — may have noticed a number of people coming in and out of LBC Boutique and a sign that reads, "Come see 2007 World Series Red Sox Ring." The player's ring has been bringing a lot of people into the store since its owner pawned it a few weeks ago, said employee Taneisha Flores.

J.P. Morgan to cull business clients

J.P. Morgan Chase JPM & Co. is looking to scale back lending to pawn shops, payday lenders, check cashers and certain car dealerships as it seeks to tighten controls in a period of heightened regulatory scrutiny, said people close to the situation. The bank has launched an internal review of its commercial-lending clients that is expected to result in the elimination of relationships with companies that pose a greater risk of fraud or money laundering and are viewed as risky to J.P. Morgan's reputation, these people said.
