Thomas Cola loved basketball, had a big smile and came from good parents, his mother testified Monday before District Judge Jessie Walsh. "Was a watch really worth my son's life?” Engel Cola asked Victor Park, the man who fatally shot Thomas Cola nearly six years ago. "I don't think so."

Higher gold, lower oil price trends may continue as global growth expectations falter

Gold prices may continue to rise and crude oil prices fall as long as expectations remain sluggish for global growth. Gold prices are at their highest levels in five weeks, while crude oil prices are down at multi-year lows. Brent crude oil lost more than 4 percent, recording its largest percentage daily loss for more than three years, according to Commerzbank.

Traveling salesman accused of pawning goods he was supposed to sell

He was supposed to be selling his wares to local businesses, deputies said, but instead he was selling it to pawnshops. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested Gregg Sulkin, a traveling jewelry salesman based in Palm Beach County, Florida, for grand theft.
