Pawnshop chain First Cash 3Q profit up 3 percent

First Cash Financial Services Inc.'s third-quarter net income rose 3 percent as the company made more money from its pawnshops and fees and saw continued strength in Mexico. The pawnshop chain and payday lender earned $18.9 million, or 64 cents per share, in the three months ended on Sept. 30, compared with $18.4 million, or 59 cents per share, in the prior-year period. Gold rose to snap two days of hefty losses lifted by a broad dollar drop and by data showing U.S. consumer prices climbed but not enough to derail the Federal Reserve's ultra-easy monetary policy. The metal rebounded from a one-month low, after U.S. Labor Department said U.S. Consumer Price Index climbed 0.6 percent in September, matching analysts' expectations and August's reading. LinkedIn updates its look, adds new features
