Republicans expected to use new majority power to push for CFPB overhaul

The U.S. Midterm Elections are over and already Democrats are circling the wagons to protect what will certainly be a top priority on the Republicans' list of changes to make – the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Republicans have hinted, some not-so-subtly, that the Bureau is in need of reform, and they intend to do just that now that they have a majority in both the House and the Senate.

Guilty: Man convicted of shooting East St. Louis, Illinois, pawnshop owner

It took jurors two hours to decide Timothy Collier was responsible for putting Larry Osborn in a wheelchair for life. Collier was found guilty of all five charges against him for robbing the East St. Louis Jewelry and Loan pawnshop and shooting owner Osborn repeatedly on April 25, 2013, as well as the armed robbery on July 12, 2013, of Arena Liquor Store in Belleville, Illinois.

Massive fire destroys Cobb County, Georgia, pawnshop

A massive fire destroyed a longtime Cobb County, Georgia, business on Nov. 10. The fire started around 7 p.m. in the basement of a Cobb Pawn & Gold Inc., according to Cobb County Fire authorities. The blaze was fueled further by propane tanks, fire officials said.

Drugs, gambling machines seized from Kentucky pawnshop

Kentucky State Police said they seized several items, including drugs, from a pawnshop in Inez.State Police executed a search warrant at the Inez Pawn Shop after an extensive investigation regarding illegal activities, according to a news release from State Police.

One of Longmont, Colorado's longest, most durable tenants on Main Street is looking for new space, and the owner isn't happy about it. "I've never been evicted," said Grandpa's Pawn & Gun owner Rod Brandenburg as the snow just started to fly late Monday morning. "It's cowardly. We don't deserve to be treated this way."
