Police: Thieves try pawning coins back to owner

A Marathon, Florida, man claims two men tried to pawn him some historic coins that just so happened to belong to him. Roger Hall was on his way to work at Joe's Pawn Shop when he noticed his truck has been broken into. Hall said cash and some old foreign coins were missing from the truck, but he didn't report the incident to authorities.

Women without bank accounts are on the verge of launching a mobile money revolution

Nearly 10 million households in the United States didn't have a checking or savings account at a bank last year and that unmarried women are the largest group without a banking relationship, according to the latest survey of unbanked and underbanked households from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Whether they are heading a household and have children at home or are living alone, unmarried women account for almost half of the American households that don't have a bank account at an insured institution.

Gold below 2-week high as shares drop on Japan recession

Gold held below a two-week high, falling as the dollar strengthened after data showed Japan had slipped into recession, but lower global shares kept losses in check on concerns about global growth. Spot gold was down 0.4 percent at $1,183.55 an ounce by 1514 GMT after peaking at $1,193.95, the highest since Oct. 31.

Serial pawnshop bandit suspect charged by Snellville, Georgia
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Police in Snellville, Georgia, have taken out an arrest warrant for a man suspected in dozens of pawnshop robberies. Avery Frazier, 47, is currently in the Rockdale County jail on robbery charges related to a pawnshop/title loan company, high-cash businesses that dot the metro Atlanta area, according to police.

UK pawnbroker given 9 years for multimillion money laundering scam

A professional villain who tried to cover up the deeds of a gang of rogue traders has been jailed for nine years. About £9million passed through Harvey White's pawnbrokers shop in the United Kingdom over five years, but the origins of the money could not be traced.

3 indicted in Moraine, Ohio, pawnshop raid

Editors note: While media outlets report that the following business is a pawnshop, records indicate it did not have a pawnbrokers' license.

Three people were indicted today following a raid this summer at a Moraine, Ohio, pawnshop. Jeff and Lisa Rich were indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on engaging in corrupt activity, receiving stolen property, and money laundering charges.
