National Pawnbrokers Association celebrate Musical Instrument Gift Day with help from The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation and Rowan Middle School in Jackson, Miss.

Today, on Dec. 6, the National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) will sponsor its fourth annual Musical Instrument Gift Day, where pawnbrokers from around the country make generous donations of musical instruments to organizations in need. The NPA will celebrate by giving the gift of music as December 6th is National Pawnbrokers Day as well as Saint Nicholas Day.

Saint Nicholas of Myra, the Patron Saint of pawnbroking, is famed for his generosity to the poor and for his penchant for secretly leaving gifts for people in need. He is recognized in America as Santa Claus and his three bags of gold has become the international symbol of pawnbrokers.

Cash America will give millions in refunds

Fort Worth, Texas-based Cash America said that it will refund millions of dollars to about 14,000 Ohio borrowers taken to court by the lender to collect on defaulted loans. The company, which also makes so-called payday loans, said it recently learned that some employees "did not prepare some court documents properly in many of its Ohio collections legal proceedings." It put the cost of the reimbursements and related expenses at $13.4 million. More

Goldman Sachs cuts 2013 gold price forecasts

Goldman Sachs cut its 2013 gold forecasts and said gold's current price cycle will likely turn next year as a rise in real interest rates on the back of improved growth offsets any further balance sheet expansion from the Federal Reserve. Goldman cut its three, six and 12-month forecasts for gold prices - currently near $1,700 an ounce — to $1,825 an ounce, $1,805 an ounce and $1,800 an ounce respectively. More
