2009 Team USA

This year the teams are posting some what differently. Each team is listed with 10 shooters with a ranking of 1 to 10. Headquarters will send a Team USA agreement contract to the top 5 ranked Sporting shooters and the top 4 ranked FITASC shooters. In addition a contract will be sent to the Alternates on each team ie, the 6th ranked Sporting shooter and the 5th ranked FITASC shooter. On the Ladies, Veterans, Super Veterans and Junior Sporting & FITASC Teams a contract will be sent to the top 3 ranked shooters on each team and the 4th ranked shooter, the Alternate. If anyone declines their spot the next highest ranked shooter will move up. Once all the contracts are signed and returned to headquarters the teams and one Alternate will be posted. More


Ironman Shooting League Keeps on Rolling

It may be the most unique shooting league in the country. It is called the Ironman League (after the Ironman Triathlon series) and it may be the ultimate shooting skills test. Participants shoot trap, handicap-trap, wobble trap, skeet, wobble skeet, sporting clays and five-stand venues. Ironman participants have shot in sleet, near white-out blizzard conditions, high winds and bone chilling cold. If you can finish up this league shooting better than 50 percent, you can call yourself a shotgunner. More

Providing Young People a Fun and Hands-on Approach to Shooting

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is partnering with local conservation groups to present the first-annual Western Maryland Junior Hunter Field Day on April 4. State and local conservationists will give youth interested in hunting, trapping and wildlife management the opportunity to learn about shooting sports — including air-rifles, archery and sporting clays — while being mentored by certified instructors. Texas High School’s Air Rifle Team Places Second at National Event

Obama Should not Reinstate Assault Weapon Ban, Gun Enthusiasts Assert

U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder said during a news conference last week that the Obama administration ought to consider renewing a 10-year ban that expired five years ago. Naturally, hunters, target shooters, general gun enthusiasts and supporters of the 2nd Amendment cringed. Many countered that the ban did not reduce crime in the U.S. and that any spike since the expiration cannot be attributed to the resumed sale of semiautomatic weapons to private citizens. More
