North American Fishing Club sponsors NHF Day
Outdoor Hub
North American Fishing Club is proud to continue its sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day scheduled for Sept. 28. Each year sportsmen and women take to lands and waters that are greatly impacted by their own conservation efforts. A simple purchase of a license or the buying of a Federal duck stamp goes a long way to further the development of these areas. National Hunting and Fishing Day is set-aside for sportsmen and women to celebrate those conservation efforts.

Law change allows anglers access at Corps dams
The Tullahoma News
Recently, Congress passed a law forcing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reopen waters above and below dams along the Cumberland River. Mountain lion population appears to be growing
Grand View Outdoors
An already "robust" population of mountain lions in the Catalina Mountains of Arizona appears to be increasing, and that could pose a threat to a planned reintroduction of bighorn sheep in the range this fall. Lions, which sometimes prey on bighorns, might hinder or even derail an effort to rebuild a herd in the Catalinas. In response, state wildlife officials have approved a plan for what they call the "administrative removal", or killing, of lions that kill sheep.

The 10 guns that defined America
The Daily Mail
Chris Kyle knew guns in a way no modern American ever has. As a Navy SEAL sniper, he recorded 255 kills on the battlefield during four deployments to Iraq. After he retired from the military, he began researching the firearms that shaped American history. His new book — published posthumously — "American Gun: A History of the U.S. in Ten Firearms" details the rifles and pistols wielded by soldiers, police officers, hunters, mobsters and outlaws that most influenced the culture of this nation.

Cheetah acceleration power key to animal's success
The Huffington Post
Everyone knows cheetahs are blazingly fast. Now new research illustrates how their acceleration and nimble zigzagging leave other animals in the dust and scientists in awe. Researchers first determined that cheetahs can run twice as fast as Olympian Usain Bolt on a straightaway. Then they measured the energy a cheetah muscle produces compared to body size and calculated the same for Bolt, the sprinter. They found the cheetah had four times the crucial kick power of the Olympian.

Farm bill clears Senate, edges closer to passage
Ammo Land
The Senate took a critical step toward implementing policy that will impact great swaths of American agricultural lands as well as millions of sportsmen and landowners by voting to advance the 2013 Farm Bill, which would codify much of U.S. agriculture policy for the next five years. The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and other leaders in the agriculture-conservation community lauded the Senate for addressing sportsmen's priorities in its version of the bill and urged the House of Representatives to follow suit.
