Much of the U.S. will experience warmer-than-normal temperatures, according to an updated forecast for January by government forecasters. The eastern two-thirds of the nation now is seen as having above-normal temperatures, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. That is a dramatic shift from the initial forecast for January. This area includes both the Midwest and the Northeast, which lean heavily on heating oil for heating. More

Oil price jumps as US averts 'fiscal cliff'
The Associated Press via seattlepi.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The price of oil jumped by over a dollar on Jan. 2, to above $93 a barrel, after U.S. lawmakers passed legislation to avoid a "fiscal cliff" that could have pushed the world's biggest economy into recession. The U.S. House of Representatives voted near midnight to send the bill to President Barack Obama after a frantic day of political brinksmanship in Washington. More

A follow-up to an unselfish act

In one of our past issues, we shared with you the special project done by the Garden State Chapter to help a family in need. They knew they couldn't help the family through Oil Heat Cares, but they also didn't think twice about helping this special family who needed a new gas system.

This photo is a follow-up to the project. You can see that they are a happy family and their daughter is now much more comfortable. Good job Garden State!

A special thank you
OESP    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
All through the Christmas and New Year's holidays, Oil Heat Cares was busy. For starters, we had two projects brought to us from the Fairfield County Chapter. Both of these projects benefit families who lost a child at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. The good news is we have people that are willing and able to do something special for these families.

The first project involved a boiler replacement. A service call from the Barden Family identified the old boiler was not going to make it and it was recommended that a replacement be made. Al Breda, from Sippin Energy, stepped up got OHC involved. The project became very affordable thanks to the generous donation of the Energy Kinetics boiler. Sippin donated a nice supply of heating oil for the family.

The second family had two oil tanks and one was failing. Again, Al Breda was involved and was concerned about just replacing one tank. He felt that a 400 gallon would be a better option. We reached out to Roth Industries for a discounted price and once again they came back with a complimentary tank.

Thank you to Roth and Energy Kinetics.

A wonderful gift to OHC

About two weeks ago, Roger Marran, from Energy Kinetics, sent an email to OHC and Don Farrell. Don is a board member but also worked with NORA to put together the Oil Heating Storm website.

Roger has been a strong supporter of OHC since its inception. He told us that Energy Kinetics would donate to Oil Heat Cares $100 for every boiler sold between then and the end of January. Well, OHC recently received a check for $10,000. Once again, thank you, Energy Kinetics!

Stay tuned for more OHC activities that are taking place now.
