Survey: Many HVAC contractors unprepared for 2015 efficiency standards

A majority of U.S. contractors are unprepared for upcoming regulatory changes in residential air-conditioning and heat pump systems, according to survey results released by Sidney-based Emerson Climate Technologies Inc. The survey found that 74 percent of contractors were unaware of the forthcoming 2015 regional standards for residential unitary air-conditioning and heat pump systems.

Heating pellets prove to be in short supply in New Hampshire

Residents in New Hampshire who did not pre-buy heating pellets this year are likely to find themselves in short supply for the rest of the winter, according to manufacturers and distributors of the fuel made from compressed sawdust. The shortage has come about because of a confluence of two factors. In addition to the below-average temperatures, more consumers have turned to pellet stoves to reduce the cost of heating by conventional fuels. As a result, the market has seen a growing number of consumers chasing a limited supply.
