Why search engine phrases are key to your HVAC online marketing
Contracting Business    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Narrowly focused search-engine terms help HVAC contractors get found online by the readers they're targeting — qualified-to-buy, local homeowners seeking expert answers to questions about their home-comfort systems. HVAC contractors with an eye toward growth are able to nurture those online connections, turning readers into leads into customers. They're also able to use their blogs to enhance their position as their area's industry leader. More

 Updates from OESP

May is a beautiful month

Judy Garber
Executive Director
For some of us it is the highlight of our year — our Annual Convention and Trade Show. It is an event where our members and guests have a chance to network with peers, relax, learn what's new and exciting and take advantage of a class or two.

It is a month of graduations — from pre-school to college and, for each, a wonderful celebration.

It is also a month when Catholic children receive their First Communion. I mention this because my grandson No. 2 received his on Saturday. What a delight to see those little boys and girls simply shine for a couple of hours. They truly are innocent and pious even for just a few short hours. And with Mother's Day, it was a delightful weekend and a nice break from the fast-paced world we live in.

Great news

So many of you have supported Danny Gentile of the New Haven, Conn., Chapter. Danny is actually getting out and about. Last week he attended the chapter's monthly meeting, and his goal is to attend the convention in Providence, R.I. for at least the day. It goes without saying that your prayers, cards and financial support have given him much strength.

Which class are you going to attend?
OESP    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
We have featured most of our classes and the brief outlines are all on our website, but here is some more information about another class that you might be interested in.

Kevin Anderson, Grundfos Pump's Trainer, will be doing a class on variable speed pumping. He's even bringing training modules to enhance the training. Attendees will learn about pump curves and heads, horsepower and energy costs, pump operations in various system types and single-speed and three-speed vs. variable-speed.

Kevin has been with Grundfos since 2001. He is the Technical Training Specialist for "Grundfos Technical Institute," a unique application oriented training center for experienced pump professionals and novices.

For alternative energy producers, is it worth plugging in?
The Portland Press Herald    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Central Maine Power Co.'s $1.4 billion transmission system upgrade isn't designed to handle the power that can be made available at times from new and existing alternative energy plants in northern and eastern Maine, federal utility regulators and the region's grid operator have determined. The shortcoming has financial impacts that could discourage future investments in alternative energy in Maine. More

Sandia National Laboratories and the Department of Energy have released a new tool to help utilities, developers and regulators identify the energy storage options that best meet their needs. Partnering with DNV KEMA, a global testing and consulting firm, Sandia is releasing Energy Storage Select, or ES-Select, software under a public license to the company. The tool makes it easier to conduct a quick, high-level analysis of energy storage options and determine the value of energy storage technologies for a specified application, which developers say will increase the adoption of energy storage technologies. The US solar revolution: Sometimes smaller is bigger    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Solar, wind and geothermal power sources accounted for only around 1.5 percent of U.S. energy consumption last year, but a number of factors are merging to make solar a more realistic option, from the failure of the first round of high-profile projects to the redirecting of government land for renewable power programs and the emerging trend of leasing solar energy systems to make them more affordable. Buildings    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
