Thune home heating fuel bill signed into law
PoliticalNews.me
U.S. Senator John Thune, R-South Dakota, applauded the enactment of his bipartisan legislation, the Reliable Home Heating Act (S. 2086). Thune's bill will provide governors greater autonomy when declaring emergencies, without the need for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to declare that a disaster exists beyond the current 30-day declarations available to governors. The legislation will also require the Energy Information Administration to provide early warnings to governors if the inventory of residential heating fuel falls below the most recent five-year average for more than three consecutive weeks.

In April, Dan Holohan did our association a special favor by presenting a seminar to benefit our Dave Nelsen Scholarship Fund. Knowing that Dan is retiring from speaking after 2015, behind the scenes we planned to name a new award after him. That evening we announced the new award, "the Dan Holohan Scholarship." Instead of simply saying, "I am honored," he wanted to jump start the fund by holding a seminar. That's Dan for you! Dan will be hosting a benefit seminar Tuesday, September 23 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Yes, following the close of the Second Roadshow, he'll hold a Dead Men's Steam School from 3-6:30 p.m. For $99, you can attend this all-technical seminar and help fund this annual award. We'll even feed you thanks to our sponsor, Peerless.

Dan has requested that these funds be available to help teachers in the HVAC industry — those that want to continue their education, purchase items for their classrooms, etc.

Tips for collecting on invoices
Fox Business
One of the worst things about running a business is getting delinquent customers to pay. For small business owners it's made worse because unpaid bills can quickly spell a company's demise. SmallBusiness.co.uk
It's really important that you find effective ways to communicate with your staff. Buy-in from them is key to productivity and to keeping a loyal workforce; after all, you've invested in their development, now you want them to stay.
