    RPA/ASSE seek input for development of radiant designer/installer standard
    Contractor Magazine
    The Radiant Professionals Alliance and ASSE International are seeking professional input toward the development of an American National Standards Institute recognized standard for hydronic and radiant heating/cooling designers and installers. The standard will allow authorities to recommend certification as a minimum requirement to obtain a business license to practice hydronic heating and cooling within that jurisdiction.

    US refineries reach record production revenue volumes in mid-summer 2014

    According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, America's 140 plus refineries were hitting record volume performance in mid-July, a pace that is continuing as the 2014 summer moves into even higher potentials as fall approaches. The pace of 16.8 million barrels per day of crude conversion is bound to be exceeded as worldwide demand on top of America's residential, commercial and industrial needs put increasing pressure on the country's world-leading refining capabilities, with the acceleration of existing and newly tapped shales.

    National Oilheat Research Alliance
    The National Oilheat Research Alliance has launched a new website. The new site, with a modern, user-friendly interface, is a source for news, events, education, research updates and more. State Associations will be able to apply for project rebates entirely online which NORA says will simplify and speed-up the process.

    EIA: US crude oil production in July highest in 27 years
    Reuters
    U.S. crude oil production averaged an estimated 8.5 million barrels per day in July, the highest level since April 1987, the Energy Information Administration said. In its monthly short term energy outlook, the EIA also raised its crude production forecasts for this year to 8.5 million barrels per day from its previous estimate of 8.42 million barrels per day.

    US warms to clean energy

    A review of monthly figures for new installations of electric power capacity in July shows that renewable energy is quickly becoming the energy source of choice in the U.S. New data from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission shows that 100 percent of new capacity installed in July came from renewable energy. For the month, there were 21 megawatts of new solar, 379 megawatts of wind and 5 megawatts of new hydropower.
