PCA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article

Last quarter PCA's YouTube channel surpassed 100 videos. With that, we asked members to provide us input on what they thought of the videos and what we should focus on for the future.

We are proud to report that viewers are quite satisfied with the current content and quality of the videos. That said, we see a demand for more car coverage and technical/how to videos. If you have an idea for a video, shoot us a note at admin@pca.org.

Brumos Racing is all about history and tradition, and through the years, the team has built its reputation by staying true to the principles that first brought them success. While Brumos remains dedicated to those traditions, their longevity in motorsports would not be possible without adapting and evolving. The Brumos of today may still look similar to their predecessors, but their current day success can be attributed to the state-of-the-art as well as the traditional. More

Corral Alert: Tickets on sale for COTA GRAND-AM Race
PCA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The preparations for the GRAND-AM Race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, are in full swing. PCA has made arrangements through COTA for tickets to the race priced at $59.00 and admission to the Car Corral for $30.00. Your ticket is all access, meaning you can view the race from anywhere around the track. However we'll have a hospitality tent located at the top of Turn 1 that offers a tremendous view of the pit straight and the entry and exit to that famous Turn 1. COTA also will make available dedicated PCA seating in the Turn 1 Grand Stand. We'll also have a PCA Car Corral located in Parking Lot P, directly behind Turn 1. There are permanent restrooms and concessions located immediately adjacent to our tent and seating. Great place to get some of those famous ribs from The Salt Lick.

In addition to access to the race your ticket also allows you access to the paddock and garages where you can get an up front and close view of the race teams, the drivers and their cars. We are also working with GRAND-AM to have presentations in our hospitality tent from team owners, drivers and other groups that will make this an even better race experience. Also included will be access to driver autograph sessions.

To make your ticket purchase as simple as possible, COTA has assigned an exclusive Sales Representative to manage PCA ticket sales. To purchase your tickets please contact Tom Greene at 512.536.1455. Tom prefers you to contact him by telephone to purchase tickets. If you have already purchased tickets, please contact Tom to merge your names onto his list of PCA ticket purchasers. You can do this by telephone or by email at tom.greene@circuitoftheamericas.com  If you have purchased tickets, please be sure to contact Tom to merge your name onto his list. We want to make sure that we everyone's name on the list how want to park in the corral.

My Porsche life - 27 years later
Bob Shuster, PCA 2012 Spring Raffle Winner    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article

My Porsche life actually began in the very late 70s while living in Connecticut.

One day, I was working around my house when my brother, Sandy, drove up unannounced. Of course, I was delighted to see him since he lived in New Jersey. What a nice surprise, I thought. I asked him, "What are you doing in Connceticut?" Sandy said he was on his way to Lime Rock: a racetrack in Conncecticut.

Porsche Museum Treasure - the 917 Pink Pig
PCA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Porsche fired the starting shot for Project 917 in June 1968, after the international motor sports authority or FIA had announced a class of "homologated sports cars" with up to five liters cubic capacity and a minimum weight of 800 kilograms. Under the supervision of Ferdinand Piëch, the stipulated 25 units of the new racing car model were completed by April 1969 so that the 917 could begin its racing career in the same year. After it initially dropped out of its first three races due to technical problems, the 917 success story began in August 1969 at a 1,000-kilometer race at the Österreichring with a victory by Jo Siffert and Kurt Ahrens.

The Porsche 917/20 was a mix between the short-tail and the long-tail models and was notable for its broad proportions. Although the pink colored racecar, nicknamed "the Pig", dropped out halfway through the race, its unusual paint color made it one of the most famous Porsche models ever. Video here.
