A day in the life of a vintage Porsche owner
By Noelle Talmon
I affectionately call my black 1976 911S "Smoky," because the first week I owned him smoke billowed out of the engine compartment while I was driving around my neighborhood. Fearing my skills behind a Volkswagen didn't translate into the more difficult Porsche clutch, I was relieved to discover it was just the heat exchange hose that had popped off and needed adjustment. The name Smoky stuck, and I discovered that owning a vintage car has its set of challenges.

PCA social media coverage of The Rolex 24 at Daytona yields record-breaking traffic
PCA
The Rolex 24 at Daytona was a success - not only did Porsche win its class with the no. 911 RSR, but the trackside Porsche Club of America Car Corral sold out months before the event and attracted plenty of visiting members and Porsches. This year PCA is stepping up its social media efforts, evinced by the around-the-clock Facebook and Twitter coverage at the race, which will continue on at many PCA and Porsche events throughout the year. For those who weren't able to attend the race or follow our social media channels, have a look at our Porsche Club of America Facebook page, and our Twitter page at PCA @PCANational.

First Porsche uncovered after 112 years of hiding
Yahoo Autos
For as much as we talk about barn finds, the window of time for such vehicles tends to be measured in a few decades; any more than that and the ravages of time and memory tend to destroy anything so long abandoned. On Monday, Porsche revealed that it had recently acquired the barn find of the century — the first car ever designed by founder Ferdinand Porsche, which hit the roads of Austria in 1898, and has been locked away untouched for the past 112 years.

The world's very first Porsche design — the return of the 'P1'
Porsche
Since the construction of the first sportscar to bear the Porsche name – the Type 356 from 1948 – Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG has been regarded as the world's leading sportscar manufacturer. Yet the company's history dates back to a much earlier period: In 1898, Ferdinand Porsche presented the "Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C.2 Phaeton model" (known as the "P1" for short) – the world's first Porsche design. After 116 years, the original and unrestored vehicle has been recovered and is set to enrich the Porsche Museum's collection as a technical and historical worldwide sensation.

Macan should put Porsche over 50,000 — 4 years early
Automotive News
After two years of record sales, Porsche is poised to smash its own long-term sales target as early as this year. The luxury manufacturer has said it wants to sell 50,000 vehicles in the United States no later than 2018. But with a 21 percent jump in sales in 2013 to 42,323 vehicles and the promising new Macan crossover going on sale this spring, the goal looks much closer.

Chills and thrills: A wintry drive in Boxster convertible
By Joseph Cavalcante
It's snowing steadily here today; the weathersayers forecast a two-day snowstorm. In the great Northeast, low-mileage Porsches spend five icy months a year under covers juiced by tickle chargers, shielded from road salt and sand, gas tanks laced with stabilizer, maybe rolled a few feet across the garage once a month to save the tires.
