Bruce Anderson, PCA and Porsche icon, passes

The Porsche Club of America has lost one of its most cherished member and pioneering technical resource. Bruce Anderson passed away this past Saturday. Perhaps appropriately, we received the news during the PCA Winter Board Meeting, a meeting Bruce attended regularly from 1981 through 2001 as the Chairman of the PCA Technical Committee. Those new to PCA may not realize that Bruce was key in establishing a Technical Committee in PCA. He realized early on the importance of delivering technical information to our members. His legacy lives as the PCA Tech Committee prepares for a new online launch and continues its successful Tech Academy and Tech Tactics events. Bruce was well known for generously sharing his vast knowledge of Porsche cars. He not only provided questions and answers for PCA's Porsche Panorama magazine, but for other publications including Excellence Magazine as well. Enthusiasts with an air-cooled 911 more than likely have his 911 Performance Handbook close by in the garage. In fact, I'm convinced that God probably had a misfire on his 911 and needed Bruce's expertise to fix it.

He and his wife, Stephanie, were fixtures at Porsche Parades and PCA events for many decades. Those who spent time with Bruce knew they were lucky to have known such a great man. With his trademark suspenders and that big smile, he made you feel as though you were the only person in the room.

We at the Porsche Club of America offer our most sincere condolences to Stephanie and the Anderson family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

For five decades, the 911 has been the heart of the Porsche brand. Few other automobiles in the world can look back on such a long tradition and such continuity as the Porsche 911. It has been inspiring car enthusiasts the world over since its debut as the model 901 at the IAA International Automotive Show in September 1963. More

With the right set of tires and an experienced pair of hands behind the wheel, a mid-engined sports car like the new Porsche Cayman S (981) can be quite a joyful toy on a snow-covered track, as Sport Auto's Christian Gebhardt proves in this video that was shot at the Hockenheim racetrack in Germany. 2014 Porsche Cayman: Fully redesigned and inching closer to the 911's power
Latinos Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The new 2014 Porsche Cayman may finally quell the pleas from car enthusiasts imploring the European automaker to outfit the coupe with enough power to challenge the 911 - Porsche's star model. But it doesn't seem like this model of the Cayman is going to oust the 911 from its top spot on the line yet, but it is getting closer, some say - pumping out 274 horsepower, 20 more than its predecessor. Porsche 911 GT3 rally racing
The Sports Car Guys    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
At one time the Porsche 911 was used very successfully as a rally car. The rear weight bias of the 911 made for a car that in the hands of the right driver, could do things that other rally cars just couldn't do. Unfortunately, the Porsche 911 isn't used much for rallying these days, but that doesn't mean it can't still be a potent rally car. More
