Video: Porsche GT3 makes strong showing in EVO's Track Car of the Year competition
PCA
But is that enough to make it the publication's top pick? As far as track-ready production cars go, not much else can match or exceed a GT3's ability to achieve fast lap times while remaining fun to drive, two main ingredients of EVO's Track Car of the Year (TCotY). Five of the eleven cars invited to the competition logged better lap times, so we can only hope that the Porsche makes up for its, um, speed deficit by overcoming hosts Richard Meaden and Jethro Bovingdon with emotion behind the wheel.

2015 12 Hours of Sebring Porscheplatz and car corral
PCA

It’s professional road racing time again in Sebring, FL. Porsche Cars North America and PCA will again host our annual Porscheplatz during the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida. Porscheplatz dates are March 20 – 21, 2015. As usual, our Porscheplatz will feature a Porsche-only dedicated car corral and a hospitality tent where you can relax, have a cold beverage, and watch the races on two 60-inch cable TVs. You can watch presentations by Porsche Motorsports North America, Porsche North America team drivers, and sponsors such as Mobil 1 and Michelin. You can sign up for Parade Laps on Friday. The first 100 cars will be able to enjoy a driver’s eye view of the famous Sebring race course. And as usual, your ticket gives you access to the paddock where you can see the cars and drivers up close and personal.

This year’s race is the second year of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, America’s all-new premier sports car racing Series. The Series was created by the merger of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car and American Le Mans organizations, both of which had a long history of competing at Sebring. The TUDOR Championship features two styles of cars, Prototype and GT (Grand Touring). Each style of car has two classes, Pro and Pro-Am, meaning there are four classes of racing on track together, each with their own battle for the lead. In addition to the TUDOR races you can watch racing from the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Cooper Tires Prototype Lites, and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama.

This could be a great opportunity to watch racing reminiscent of the 1965 Twelve Hours of Sebring that is considered by many to be the greatest race ever at Sebring. The Ford GT 40 and Ferrari were considered the favorites but the Chaparrals of Jim Hall were the dark horse. And the Chaparrals eventually won the race despite a torrential rain storm. And the winning Chaparral is returning to Sebring this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that great race,

Please purchase your tickets soon as the corral is almost sold out. You don’t miss this chance to see some exciting racing on one of the premier road courses in the U.S. To purchase your tickets and car corral pass, please go to

https://sebringraceway.com/porsche-corral-packages

There are several options for tickets based on the number of persons attending and the number of days. Sebring has both one and two day options as well as one person or two person options.

If you have questions, please contact PCA Zone 12 Representative Dave Herndon at zone12rep@pca.org or PCA Porscheplatz Coordinator Tuffy von Briesen at porscheplatz@pca.org

Porsche GT3: Conception to delivery
By David Newton
I first met my good friend Bryan on an excursion sponsored by the Porsche Club of America just weeks after he bought his 2011 Porsche 997 GTS. Truly obsessed with how technology functions within an integrated creation, Bryan does not consider overengineering an extravagance. It's an obligation. So the bond between Bryan and his car is not puzzling to me, as Porsche is renowned for tireless attention to detail in design and construction. It therefore came as quite a shock when he told me at the end of last summer that he was considering a replacement.

Porsche playtime in winter weather proves an invaluable driving lesson
New York Daily News
Porsche sports cars seem the last thing you'd want to drive in winter. That is, until you’re powering one around a manicured ice-track outside of Montreal. We travelled to Canada to learn how to handle German performance machinery in the ice and snow at Porsche's Camp4 driving school.

Mouth-watering 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring up for auction
Bold Ride
Back in the early ’70s, Porsche brought back the Carrera nameplate for an ambitious 911-based racing program, with engineer Norbert Singer heading the project. After the successful but expensive 917 program had run its course, the aim was to get the 911 ready for FIA’s Group 4, and this meant both significant modification and a production run of at least 500 units.

Intensive pre-season preparations for WEC
Porsche
Despite some strong, sand blowing winds at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, it was a very productive test with a total of 5,118 kilometres covered. Driving duties were shared by Romain Dumas (France), Brendon Hartley (New Zealand), Nico Hülkenberg (Germany), Marc Lieb (Germany) and Mark Webber (Australia). Now all nine drivers who will be racing the second generation of the 919 in 2015 have had the chance to test it.

Real talk from Walter Röhrl on Porsche's new smaller 911 Turbo engines
Jalopnik
Porsche has confirmed that pretty soon, just about every 911 will be a 911 with a turbo. (Where that leaves the 911 Turbo is unclear.) Like everyone, their engines are going smaller and turbocharged, and legendary racing driver Walter Röhrl, of all people, let loose with the details.
