Tech Tactics East 2012 wows newcomers and returning attendees

Tech Tactics East 2012 concluded last weekend with close to 200 entrants being exposed to all things Porsche technical. The event was hosted again at the Porsche Cars North American Training Center in Easton, Pa. The entrants were entertained by three Porsche Cars North America technical experts, three PCA speakers; Peter Smith, our National Tech Committee Chair, John Paterek, who has spoken in all 32 past Tech Tactics events, and Mike Bavaro, from Bodymotion. They each gave captivating presentations and kept attendees on the edge of their seats. We also had a special guest Doug Brown, from Michelin Tires. Doug is a long time PCA member and friend to Tech Tactics.

6 finalists shine at young driver selection including American Dennis Trebing

The selection process to find Porsche juniors for the 2012 season is now on the home stretch. At track tests in Vallelunga, Italy, six finalists ranging in age from 18 to 21 excelled with outstanding lap times and showed impressive progress over the two days. Klaus Bachler (20, A), Tom Blomqvist (18, GB), Michael Christensen (21, DK), Mario Farnbacher (19, D), Ramon Pineiro (21, E) and Dennis Trebing (20, USA) had earlier come out on top at a rigorous selection process against other talented youngsters from around the globe. Volkswagen close to deal for Porsche stake

Volkswagen AG, Europe's largest carmaker, is closing in on a deal to purchase the remaining 50.1 percent stake in Porsche SE's automotive business that it does not already own, people familiar with the matter said. Approval from German tax authorities is one of the hurdles to an agreement, which VW and Porsche are still negotiating, the people said, declining to be identified discussing private talks. VW may announce the plan within the next two weeks, the people said. VW is considering setting up an umbrella company to purchase the stake, according to one of the people. More

Porsche AG is recalling nearly 102,000 of its top-selling Cayenne SUVs worldwide to fix a potential problem that could result in a headlight coming loose or falling off.
