Geneva: Porsche unveils 911 GT3 RS, promises 'a pure racetrack version' of Cayman GT4 [w/video]
Porsche President and CEO Matthias Müller just announced the new 911 GT3 RS at the Geneva International Motor Show, stating that the company's top, track-focused sports car can lap the Nürbugring Nordschleife in seven minutes and 20 seconds. Müller said the GT3 RS will "remain the top 911 with a license plate."
Perhaps just as thrilling, he also stated, "A pure race track version (of the Cayman GT4) will follow later in the year."

Mardi Gras might be over, but PCA Club Racing kept the party going strong at NOLA this past weekend
The early season push for points to position oneself in the catbird seat for a 2015 class podium continued this past weekend at NOLA. Preliminary results show that in GTA2
action John Crosby scored a double class win over a field that included 2014 runner up Eric Boueilh.
Ken Laborde also earned a double class victory in GTC3, giving him an early advantage in the chase for a season podium finish that eluded him by a season point in 2014.

Just another day in the life of a car photographer
Here's a perfect example of why everyone thinks car photographers are absolutely mental.
Rowan Horncastle, a strong contender for most British-ly named British automotive journalist in the business, shoots for Top Gear Magazine. This is a life of adventure, one which sometimes requires shooting barehanded in the snow while sticking out of the frunk of a powersliding Porsche 911 Turbo.

In motorsport, good looks don't win prizes. And they certainly don't win races. Here, there are more to things than appearance alone. Here, every form has a function. The result is a crucial plus for performance.

Luftgekult 2 brings out world class Porsches
A recent forecast called for rain in Los Angeles, lending a bit of drama to the area's regularly scheduled weekend car gatherings. Yet the group of Porsches that decided to brave the rain and assemble in Culver City was far from regular. Assembled by Porsche factory driver Patrick Long, "Luftgekuhlt" was a celebration of air-cooled engines, and so any attendees driving post-993-era water-cooled Porsches were kindly asked to park elsewhere.

New Porsche Cayman GT4 vs. used '997' 911 GT3 [w/poll]
The Porsche 911 recipe has always been simple: an iconic teardrop silhouette that possesses a powerful boxer-six engine in the rear. However, while the core recipe is unchanged, the current generation of Porsche 911 is experiencing a revolution, whether we like it or not.
Particularly, the latest Porsche '991' 911 GT3 is the farthest departure from the classic Porsche that we've ever seen. Gone is the rewarding manual transmission for a 7-speed PDK dual clutch paddle shift gearbox. Additional sophistication including the novel rear-wheel-steering makes the latest GT3 the heaviest as well.
Porsche reports February 2015 sales
Porsche Cars North America, Inc., importer and distributor in the U.S. of Porsche 918 Spyder, 911, Boxster and Cayman sports cars, Macan and Cayenne SUVs, and the Panamera four-door sports sedan line-up, recently announced February 2015 sales of 3,202 vehicles, down 30 units compared to February 2014. Vehicle supply was adversely affected by the west coast port dispute and inclement weather in many areas. PCNA sales remain 12.8 percent higher year-to-date compared to the same period last year.
VW's Porsche to buy 25.1 percent of carbon-fiber partmaker Capricorn
Volkswagen AG's Porsche division plans to buy a 25 percent stake in a German auto-parts and carbon-fiber producer, widening access to the lightweight material used in its top-end sports cars.
Porsche AG and Capricorn Composite GmbH, a supplier of components for the LMP1 and 918 Spyder models, are targeting completion of the deal in about two weeks after signing an agreement on Monday, the Stuttgart, Germany-based carmaker said recently in a statement.
Porsche racks up the miles at Aragon
While Audi and Nissan continue to put miles on their 2015 FIA WEC challengers at Sebring this week, Porsche has started work at Motorland Aragon in Spain.
Neel Jani and Mark Webber are just two of their drivers in action at the Spanish track as they renew their winter test program. Porsche is expected to register another 3,000 miles of running as it strives to challenge for the FIA WEC title in its second year in the LMP1 class.

Porsches and Polo in Florida
By Irwin Greenstein
A jaw-dropping collection of Porsches gathered at the Sarasota Polo Club at Lakewood Ranch for a sun-kissed get-together called Porsches and Polo that was organized by Florida's Suncoast Region of the PCA. Held Feb. 22, the Porsches had assembled beneath the palm trees whose fronds whispered in the breeze from the partly cloudy sky as temperatures lingered in the low 80s.
2015 12 Hours of Sebring Porscheplatz and car corral
It’s professional road racing time again in Sebring, FL. Porsche Cars North America and PCA will again host our annual Porscheplatz during the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida. Porscheplatz dates are March 20 – 21, 2015. As usual, our Porscheplatz will feature a Porsche-only dedicated car corral and a hospitality tent where you can relax, have a cold beverage, and watch the races on two 60-inch cable TVs. You can watch presentations by Porsche Motorsports North America, Porsche North America team drivers, and sponsors such as Mobil 1 and Michelin. You can sign up for Parade Laps on Friday. The first 100 cars will be able to enjoy a driver’s eye view of the famous Sebring race course. And as usual, your ticket gives you access to the paddock where you can see the cars and drivers up close and personal.
This year’s race is the second year of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, America’s all-new premier sports car racing Series. The Series was created by the merger of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car and American Le Mans organizations, both of which had a long history of competing at Sebring. The TUDOR Championship features two styles of cars, Prototype and GT (Grand Touring). Each style of car has two classes, Pro and Pro-Am, meaning there are four classes of racing on track together, each with their own battle for the lead. In addition to the TUDOR races you can watch racing from the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Cooper Tires Prototype Lites, and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama.
This could be a great opportunity to watch racing reminiscent of the 1965 Twelve Hours of Sebring that is considered by many to be the greatest race ever at Sebring. The Ford GT 40 and Ferrari were considered the favorites but the Chaparrals of Jim Hall were the dark horse. And the Chaparrals eventually won the race despite a torrential rain storm. And the winning Chaparral is returning to Sebring this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that great race,
Please purchase your tickets soon as the corral is almost sold out. You don’t miss this chance to see some exciting racing on one of the premier road courses in the U.S. To purchase your tickets and car corral pass, please go to
There are several options for tickets based on the number of persons attending and the number of days. Sebring has both one and two day options as well as one person or two person options.
