Video: A member's unique 914-6 at Amelia Island Cars & Coffee
PCA
We caught up with John Lovejoy of Florida Citrus Region and his 914-6 at this year's Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Cars & Coffee event. Lovejoy made the 914-6 his own by swapping in a 3.2-liter flat six and adding custom body and interior modifications — including 914-6 GT steel flares, 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels, and a fully integrated stereo system. For full details, watch the video at the link below.

The road less traveled: One member's rally-spec 944
PCA
A Porsche 944 is a lot of things. It’s relatively cheap to buy and maintain, arguably the most affordable way to own a Porsche. It’s rewarding to drive, for both novice and experienced drivers. And you can often find them on streets and racetracks everywhere. Chances are, however, that you haven’t seen one driven in anger off-road, sliding around and kicking up a rooster tail of snow or dirt.

Meet Keystone Region PCA member Charlie Tameris, an amateur rally driver from Pennsylvania who does just that. His weapon of choice: a 1987 944.

Photos: Sebring 12 — more than a race
PCA
It was a hot day at Sebring and the crowd was large, as is usual for the 12 Hours of Sebring. The supporting Porsche Club of America Regions did a great job setting up the Porscheplatz and the enlarged Porsche corral parking for this year. It appeared that corral parking was easily accommodated for race day.

It was a great day of racing, with lots of PCA members watching the action from the Porscheplatz, enjoying the company of friends, and seeing a wide array of Porsches in the Corral. There was an example of almost every Porsche model present on Saturday, and plenty of photo opportunities, too.

Help improve PCA 60 seconds at a time!
PCA
In one week (April 7), E-Brake will start to include the first of several short, fast online surveys. The information you provide will help us gather data to improve PCA! As a thank you for your time, your name will be entered into a drawing each time you take a survey. We will select one person each month from that month’s participants. (More details on the prizes next week!) Then, at the end of the year, we will draw for a grand prize winner. Your name will be entered once for every survey you’ve taken. The more surveys you complete, the higher your chances to win. And best of all, you will help improve PCA with every 60-second survey you take!

These are the best certified pre-owned car programs
Car Buying
If you want to drive a luxury car, you have three options: buy new, lease, or buy used. Tavarish says the smart money buys used and buys on Craigslist for cheap, but if you want a little more peace of mind, certified pre-owned is the way to go. Autotrader ranked their top ten CPO programs, you might be surprised who didn't make the cut. Autotrader says they determined their rankings based on length of coverage, ability to be transferred, and the deductible for repairs. They said the best programs have coverage up to 100,000 miles, are transferable to other owners, and have little or no deductible. Who's got the best CPO in town? Porsche, it turns out.

Follow this checklist as Porsche driving season arrives
By Noelle Talmon
It was a particularly brutal winter for those of us in New England, with Boston receiving a record amount of snowfall. As a result, Porsche sightings have been slim in the Northeast in the past couple of months. The larger snow banks are taking way too long to melt in Connecticut, but the roads are finally clear save for layers of sand that have accumulated on the shoulders, a byproduct of the season's tenacious snow plows. Then there's the insane amount of potholes that make me nervous about dusting off my 1976 911S for the first drive of the season. But drive I shall.

Porsche updates 919 Hybrid LMP1 for 2015 assault [w/video]
Autoblog
Last season, Porsche returned to the top level of endurance racing with the 919 Hybrid, picking up a mantle that has seen the German marque win the 24 Hours of Le Mans a record sixteen times — more than any other manufacturer ever to compete at the legendary French race. Of course, Porsche didn't beat its sister company Audi right out of the box, but managed to win the last race in the FIA World Endurance Championship in Brazil before the season was done. This year it undoubtedly hopes to do even better, and this is the machine with which it will endeavor to take the top honors.

Porsche 911/Boxster: Adding an auxiliary port
The Sports Car Guys
If you own an older Porsche 911 or Boxster, then you probably have a CD or tape player with no iPhone/smartphone hookup. Recently, Porsche announced that they have a new stereo system with navigation and smartphone hookups for the 911 (993 and older), 914, 924, 944, 968, 928 and it should work for the 912. But what if you own a 996 generation 911 or a 986 generation Boxster?

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet
Car and Driver
Our old mental image of the Porsche 911 as that expensive but attainable little sports car for people willing to stretch just a bit from a Corvette has been outdated for several years now. First off, the 911 is no longer little, being half an inch longer than the hardly-small C7 Corvette. And its attainability, if it ever existed, seems a distant memory. Although you can order a stripper Carrera for $85,295, thanks to Porsche’s thick catalog of available options, it seems ages since we’ve seen one for less than $100K. And here we have the top-dog 911, the Turbo S Cabriolet, with a stunning price of $210,620, a figure that moves the 911 beyond its traditional phylum in the near-exotic and fully into the realm of boutique bolide.

Matt Farah gives us a tip on how to powerslide
The Sports Car Guys
Powersliding is one of those very fun and cool looking things to do in a car. After all what would half the car videos be without it. Of course doing this on a public road is not a good idea as there is a good chance that it could lead to an accident. However, if you get on a track or other private road (with no traffic), then you can get the car to powerslide in a much safer environment. We asked a few folks for tips on how to powerslide, and automotive personality Matt Farah was one that gave us a tip.

Video: Watch the Porsche Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3 RS go head-to-head
Bold Ride
For what seems like the longest time, enthusiasts have always wanted Porsche to make the Cayman a little bit better. People wanted them to create something that could take on the company’s poster child, the 911. However, that never happened, and with good reason. Porsche sells its image on the back of the 911 range. Without it, what would the brand be? That said, for 2015, Porsche finally wised up and built a competent Cayman that could possibly take on the 911.
