PCA to launch redesigned e-Brake News on May 5
PCA
Dear e-Brake News subscriber,

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost six years since Porsche Club of America Executive Director Vu Nguyen introduced e-Brake News to PCA members. With nearly 350 issues delivered to subscriber inboxes, it’s been a successful collaboration with MultiView, Inc., the current e-Brake service provider.

For 2015, PCA is looking to take e-Brake to the next level by giving it a redesign and producing it entirely in-house. By doing so PCA will be taking a more active role in filling in the news gaps between issues of Porsche Panorama.

On May 5 when you open e-Brake, you’ll notice that the newsletter shares design cues with Panorama and PCA.org and pays homage to you, the reader: Each edition will start with a featured article. Though e-Brake’s skin will be better-looking, and more importance will be placed on the lead article, initially the newsletter’s format will remain largely the same.

As you scroll down in e-Brake, you’ll find the newsworthy and entertaining PCA and Porsche-related content of the week you expect. Look forward to articles by your favorite e-Brake authors as well as new contributors, and of course we’ll continue to feature the hugely popular member-submitted Porsche of the Week and Month photos.

As e-Brake's editor ushering in a new era, I hope you enjoy the redesigned newsletter, and should you have comments, criticisms, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Damon Lowney

Take the PCA 60-second survey and you'll be entered to win!
PCA
Two weeks ago PCA released the first of many small bi-monthly surveys that will be included in e-Brake News this year, and the response to it was astounding — close to 2,000 members participated! Thank you for taking the time to help make our club better. Don’t forget to take the second survey of the month HERE, improving your odds to win the monthly prize, and the grand prize at the end of the year. (Note: Taking each survey more than once won’t improve your odds.) April's winner will be announced in the May 5 edition of e-Brake. Good luck!

As a thank you for your time, you will be entered into a drawing each time you take a survey. We will select one person each month from that month’s participants for the monthly prize. Then, at the end of the year we will draw for a grand prize winner. Your name will be entered for the grand prize once for every survey you’ve taken. The more surveys you complete, the higher your chances to win. And best of all, you will help improve PCA with every 60-second survey you take!

Monthly Prize: $100 PCA Web Store gift card

Grand Prize: Free registration and lodging for you and a guest to two PCA National events in 2016! Choose from Porsche Parade, Werks Reunion, and PCA Escape.

All information you provide will be used internally by PCA and not sold to third party businesses.

Any questions? Contact the PCA National Office: 410-381-0911. Thank you for participating!

Porsche 911 RSR earns fourth on streets of Long Beach
Porsche
The narrow confines of the wall-lined temporary race course through the streets of Long Beach, California makes passing difficult. As a result, the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class became more spread out than usual and made racing to a podium a challenge for the trio of Porsche 911 RSRs entered in the Tequila Patrón Sports Car Showcase at Long Beach, part of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

If you like vintage Porsches, try these 2 road trips
By Skip Kuhn
Spring is upon us, and what better way to start the good weather season than with a road trip? Road trips are special, of course, in that they exist to accomplish one of three basic goals: see something, do something or get something. Road trips are not vacations, and as such should be short, to the point, and provide intense if not borderline excessive quality time with your favorite Porsche or other cool car of choice. Here are a couple I have planned that you may not find on your typical Porsche event calendar.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs. 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO, 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S
Car and Driver
Now that the California Highway Patrol is switching to Ford Explorers, every Ford SUV in the mirrors looks like a threat. The stress level is especially high when you’re traveling in a three-car, jelly bean–hued convoy propelled by 1810 horsepower. And this excuse probably won’t fly: "But officer, it’s hard to say how fast we were going because the numbers on the digital display were flickering by in clumps of threes and fives." That’s not an excuse The Man wants to hear.

By Mike Vriesenga
From March 26-29, drivers brought their vintage air-cooled Porsches from as far away as California and Mexico to Kerrville, Texas, for the 2015 Hill Country Rallye. Spring weather, beautiful cars, challenging roads and great fellowship came together to form the perfect Porsche weekend. If your mental picture of Texas is dominated by the featureless plains of Odessa or the cityscapes of Dallas and Houston, you owe it to yourself to visit the Texas Hill Country in spring.
