PCA HPDE logo winner announced: Contest presented by Toyo Tires
PCA
In the fall of 2013 PCA initiated a logo contest to find an image that best represents our High Performance Drivers Education program. We received over 180 submissions narrowing the field down to three. The PCA membership voted from the three finalists and tabulation of over 6000 votes produced a winner. PCA would like to congratulate and thank Branden Bowen from the Intermountain Region for designing the winning logo. Branden will receive a set of Toyo tires, plus a $450 cash prize. And, of course, thank you to all that voted!

Porsche testing four-cylinder Boxster at the Nürburgring
Autoblog
Porsche recently introduced a four-cylinder version of the new Macan for markets outside of North America, carrying Zuffenhausen's first four-pot since the 968 ended its production run the better part of two decades ago. But you can bet the compact crossover won't be the only Porsche to get the four banger before all's said and done. These spy shots are evidence of just that.

Notice of counterfeit SFI labels on suits and hoods sold by Sawan Sports
SFI Foundation Inc.
Please note that SFI has found several products (suits, hoods) sold by Sawan Sports which bear counterfeit SFI labels stating that the manufacturer certifies that their products meet the applicable SFI Specs. SFI obtained examples of some of these products and determined through testing that they DO NOT meet the performance requirements of the SFI Specs: The Thermal Protection Performance of the suit falls short of the 3.2A/5 rating claimed on the counterfeit tag, and the thread holding the hood (balaclava) together is not heat-resistant.

Register for the Monterey Parade!
PCA
Parade will be held Sunday, June 15, until Saturday, June 21. Registration is now open. A guide to all events is on the Parade website at parade2014.pca.org, and you should use that to help you plan your week. All registrations will be accepted but be aware some events fill quickly and then go to a “waitlist” status.

The Parade registration system pulls its information from your PCA account, so please ensure you have all your information up-to-date, and that you know your PCA website logon information (user name and password). We especially need a current email, as all Parade information is sent to that email.

We are fortunate to have blocks at five different hotels this year — you will be in good company no matter which one you choose!  Once you have completed your Parade registration and have received the confirmation email (within a few seconds) with both your entrant number and special hotel authorization codes, you will be ready to reserve your accommodations. Remember that lodging reservations are subject to availability — you will want to book as soon as possible after registering for Parade to ensure your preference.

PCA National volunteer position available: RegionFocus Coordinator
PCA
We are looking for a volunteer to take RegionFocus to the next level. Rather than unilateral distribution of a lengthy newsletter, we are searching for a PCA Region Officer (past or present) who will send periodic articles to regional management and then promote discussion of relevant topics via a management forum on pca.org. That is, while the RegionFocus Coordinator will compile and distribute relevant articles, the RegionFocus Coordinator will need to be comfortable leading and moderating discussion in an online forum.

The 550kg Ariel Atom 3.5 Supercharged and 1995kg Porsche Panamera Turbo S are cars that will never battle each other in everyday life, but on the drag strip, a comparison promises much: they may be completely different shapes and sizes, and with different purposes in life, but their straight-line performance numbers suggest a very close fight.

We all speak one language — Porsche

I normally don't engage in posts on Facebook, but I made an exception the other night because it seemed like a provocative one. I went something like this: "What is your attitude toward non-928 owners who think anything other than a 911 is not a true Porsche?"
