Werks Reunion — A Porsche gathering coming to Carmel Valley, California, in August 2014
PCA

The Porsche Club of America is set to begin a new tradition in 2014 with the inaugural Werks Reunion. The new, premier Porsche event will take place on Friday, August 15, during the world-famous "Car Week" on California's Monterey Peninsula. In years past, PCA co-hosted Legends of the Autobahn at the Rancho Canada Golf Club. All will be treated to a stunning display of more than 500 Porsches, access vendors, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow car enthusiasts. The 2014 show will feature the latest Porsches, special vehicle presentations, celebrity guests, and a surprise or two.

Sliding right into the world of Porsche ownership
By Charles Zeitz
Finally, it happened. I have been watching fast and fancy cars for an entire lifetime. Never had one, but a reasonably priced, good-looking, powerful and superb-handling car presented itself to me at the same time as a touch of personal financial success. Not quite a year ago, I bought a 2014 Boxster S. This was my first sports car and the most powerful car I have ever owned. Winter came, and I bought a second set of wheels with Michelin Alpin snow tires. I then participated in Eiskhana — the Rocky Mountain Region Porsche Club ice race, in Georgetown, Colorado.

Share your No Substitute story with Porsche Cars North America
PCA
We know there's nothing like a Porsche. Nothing can replicate the feeling of driving one, and no other combination of sound, feel, sight and soul connects with us in quite the same way. It's also a very personal connection. Porsche connects to people in different ways, and we'd like to capture those ways.

Help us define what makes this brand and these cars so special. We invite you to submit your stories, images or videos for a chance to be showcased on our website: Porsche. There is no substitute.

Cross Country Cayman: Two Porsches are better than one
PCA
The drive now has two Porsches. Connie and Keith have driven their white 2014 Boxster S (981S) from Ottawa, Canada, to join us on our way to Monterey. In contrast to our meandering, they took a direct route, making the 2,846 km (1,768 mile) journey, via Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin, in under two days.

The sun finally returned and we set out to experience some of the iconic sights of western South Dakota. The road to Mount Rushmore, SD 16A, named Iron Mountain Road, was designed and built for its sight lines, not for transportation efficiency.

Video: Is this a Porsche 911 GT2 (991) or Turbo S (991.2) testing?
The Sports Car Guys
Recently, there has been a Porsche 911 Turbo S testing at the Nurburgring. At first glance, this looks like it is a 991 variant of the turbocharged sports car, but upon closer inspection it looks to have a facelift. It is very possibly the next generation of the 991 Turbo S, or a 991.2 that is being tested. If so, this would likely be very early in the cars development as the first generation car was just released.

Porsche Parade: Remembering what really matters
By Sydney Scrogham
Unfortunately, I won’t be attending Porsche Parade this year, but as I'm reflecting on my experience last year in Traverse City, Michigan, I'm thinking how wonderful it would have been if I'd had a packing list. Surprisingly, not even a Google search can tell someone how to prepare for a Porsche Parade. Well, that's fine for us seasoned Porsche Paraders, but what if you're bringing someone along who's new? As some of you attend Parade in Monterey, California, I have developed some things to "pack" with you, whether you are a first timer or a second, third, fourth, fifth — you get the idea.

Video: Auto Express pits Cayman against Alfa Romeo 4C on track
PCA
It’s been awhile since Alfa Romeo released a sports car for the masses (the limited-edition 8C doesn’t count), but that’s all about to change with the U.S. launch of the mid-engined 4C sports car this month. The arrival of a Porsche Cayman competitor begs the question: Would you buy an Alfa Romeo 4C over a Cayman?

A new rumor is indicating Porsche is planning a "coupe" version of the Cayenne. More than a month ago there was a report suggesting Porsche will launch a coupelike version of the Cayenne in 2018 based on the third generation. However, it seems we won't have to wait that long, as a new rumor suggests such a model will be out as early as next year, shortly after the upcoming facelift of the second-gen model.

What to buy: Porsche 911 50th Anniversary or Jaguar F-Type Coupe R
The Sports Car Guys
The Jaguar F-Type Coupe R and Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition are both wonderful driver’s cars. They represent the pinnacles of the German and British sports cars. The Jaguar is a V-8 550-horsepower supercharged beast. The muscular styling is simply intoxicating. The Porsche has the classic styling of the 911. With the 50th Anniversary Edition, you get added styling touches that recall vintage 911s and a little more horsepower over the S model. Inside, the rear-engined sports car feels just right.

An old 911 and the long road back
By Dave Hogan
Do you remember the feeling you had when you bought your first Porsche? Most Porsche people sure do. Now imagine having that same feeling for 40 years. That is what happened to PCA Blue Ridge Region member Keith Martin. It was 1973 when Martin first saw his dream car: a forlorn and neglected 911 sitting in the weeds.
