Porsche in top position in quality study
Porsche
Sports cars from Stuttgart set the top quality benchmark. In this year's Initial Quality Study by U.S. market research institute J.D. Power, Porsche came in first in the overall ratings — as it did last year. Due to the extremely low number of complaints, the Panamera sports saloon was also rated highest among all nameplates in the overall study. Over 86,000 private persons took part in the survey, rating 239 models by 32 manufacturers.

918 Spyder is Porsche's electrified future
Los Angeles Times
Porsche has seen the future of sports cars — and it's electric. The venerable German brand's vision is embodied in its new 918, an 887-horsepower, $900,000 plug-in hybrid supercar. In addition to a V-8 that fears no redline, the 918 is packed with batteries, electric motors, regenerative brakes and super-light carbon-fiber body panels.

The Le Mans experience: A fan's perspective
By Robert Dean
I was fortunate enough to mark off a bucket list item this year: My wife and I attended the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We are PCA members from the Fox Valley Region and regularly attend the American Le Mans Series races — now the Tudor United Sports Car Championship Series at Road America — in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. We also attended Sebring last year, so Le Mans was an eventual, required event. During the trip to France, I wondered how one adequately prepares for a race filled with the rich history and legend of Le Mans. Of course, I also considered the rich history of Porsche, with the most wins in Le Mans history.

Cross Country Cayman: Last leg to Porsche Parade
PCA
From Reno, there was a detour into Yosemite — how could we pass it by? We clambered up the Lambert Dome, just so that we could feel the famous Yosemite granite, and we appreciated the classic climbing walls in Yosemite Valley from the security of the ground. After another night camping at high elevation and the subsequent frosty morning, we headed for Monterey.

Two very dirty Porsches and their disheveled passengers arrived at the elegant Hyatt Regency just as registration was closing on Sunday evening. Km. 9,656, which just happens to convert to exactly 6,000 miles.

Porsche 917K used by McQueen in film could top $20 million at auction
Los Angeles Times
With obscene rarity, Hollywood film credits and immense historical significance, the value of a 1969 Porsche racing car heading to auction could be a record-breaker. Gooding & Co, the Santa Monica-based auction house, announced Monday that it will be bringing to its annual Pebble Beach sale a 1969 Porsche 917K. The car is one of only 25 such racers built, and it was also featured prominently in Steve McQueen’s 1971 film "LeMans."

To the pre-Wimbledon party in a 918 Spyder
Porsche
Their first appearances at the world’s most famous tournament traditionally come not on the green grass but on the red carpet — at the WTA’s Pre-Wimbledon Party. As the partner of the prestigious event, Porsche for the first time ensured that the players were driven quickly and safely from their hotels through London’s traffic to the Kensington Roof Gardens venue.

Superstar Maria Sharapova had the pleasure of not only an exceptional car but also a special chauffeur: the Porsche Brand Ambassador and recent French Open winner was chauffeured by Porsche works driver Mark Webber in a Porsche 918 Spyder, the super sports car with its innovative plug-in hybrid technology.

Porsche 911 Turbo S: Crazy expensive and worth it
CNNMoney
Auto writer Peter Valdes-Dapena writes: “I have this Porsche issue. Pretty much every time I drive one, I love it. Then I look at the price. Now, every time I get into a car I have some idea of the price but that's usually based on the sticker price plus, you know, some reasonable amount for options. Porsche owners are laughing already. In Porsch-ese, a ‘reasonable amount’ for ‘options’ means ‘insane money’ for ‘things you'd expect to be standard.’”

New entry-level Porsche Roadster dubbed 718 green-lighted for 2016
GTspirit.com
As it stands, the Porsche Boxster occupies a relatively contested space in the sports car market. However, if new reports prove to be accurate, a sub-Boxster sports car from Porsche is in the works and will undercut all the aforementioned cars and provide an interesting and cheaper alternative. The car is tentatively dubbed the Porsche 718 at this stage and will affectively be a spiritual successor to the original Porsche 550 Spyder from the 1950s. It will likely ride on a modified variant of the Boxster’s platform, and keeping weight down will be a key aim of Porsche engineers.
