1. Porsche patina: Rejuvenating a 928
By Pablo Deferrari
I think it happened somewhere around 1983. I was bitten hard when a 911 Turbo whooshed by me, and from that moment I became an air-cooled 911 junkie. But something else infatuated me that, to this day, I can't quite figure out how it came to be — I secretly lusted after her younger, more Rubenesque sister.

2. 3 cars that were ahead of their time
Boldride via Yahoo Autos
Bill Wilson writes, "I was too young to watch the original Star Trek series when it first came out, but I’ve seen every episode dozens of times via reruns. One thing that amazes me is how far ahead of its time the show was. It shows characters sitting at video monitors, loading data onto floppy disks, and talking to computers with voice recognition software. In the 1960s, those kinds of devices were on the leading-edge of scientific speculation. Nowadays they’re so common we hardly pay them any attention."

4. The learning curve of Porsche racing: Anticipation, dejection, redemption
By Joe Lapin
After a lifetime appreciating sports cars, I finally decided to satisfy a long-held dream in 2009 — acquiring a red Ferrari. At age 7, my first Dinky Toy was a Ferrari, and I spent my adolescence making Ferrari models and reading about drivers Wolfgang von Trips, Phil Hill, et al. Owning a Ferrari was a lifelong dream, and a logical indulgence to make a reality. After intense research as an industrial designer and talking to the various mechanics and experts that I knew, it soon became obvious that a Porsche was a far superior product.

5. Engine of the Year Award for the 2.7-liter flat-six engine
Porsche
Once again, a flat-six engine from Porsche has been named "Engine of the Year." This year, the international jury gave the renowned award to the 2.7-liter engine that is used in the Boxster and the Cayman for the 2.5 to 3.0-liter engine displacement class. "A brilliant engine for a brilliant car. This centerpiece of Porsche technology combines performance and a sporty pedigree with impressive fuel efficiency."
