Porsches come from far and wide for club's annual meet
The New York Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Hard as it may seem to contemplate, just three years after the last shots of World War II had been fired, Porsche was already concentrating on something as frivolous as a new sports car design. Two years later, the first beautifully engineered, split windshield Porsche 356s were sold through official channels in the United States, thus marking 2010 as their 60th anniversary. More

Rare Porsche sedan draws doubletakes
The Associated Press via Google    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Porsche's grand experiment -- a first-ever Porsche sedan styled in an elongated, yet familiar, sports car-looking body -- is doing well, even in a U.S. economy that's struggling to recover. No doubt, buyers of the 2010 Porsche Panamera, whose starting retail price is $90,775, are well insulated from the economic turmoil -- and that's before they are encased in the Panamera's 4,000-pound mass, 16 feet of metal from bumper to bumper. Porsche's newest baby
Forbes    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Porsche didn't leave anything to chance when it designed the Boxster Spyder. This car is stripped down so light it could blow away. The 6-ounce auto-prop holder for the rear trunk? Gone -- you can lift it yourself. The thin silver door-sill panel? Gone. It's a decal anyway. The plastic interior door handles have been replaced with red nylon straps. And don't even think about a radio (seven pounds) or air conditioning (29 pounds). More
