Register now for Escape to Magical Orlando!
PCA

It is time to register for Escape to Magical Orlando 2014, taking place at the beautiful Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World. This is a great event for the whole family. The drives this year are truly exceptional and are filling up. Some of the drives, like the Kennedy Space Center lunch with the Astronauts, are a once in a lifetime event. There will probably never be another gathering of space explorers together in one place at one time. The opportunity to visit two of the greatest race courses in the country during one event is also unmatched.

These drives are rapidly filling up so if you plan to attend please go to ClubRegistration.net and get registered. There is a separate event there for the Goody Store. There will be no on-site Goody Store so order ahead and pick up your merchandise at the event. Take a look at Escape2014.pca.org for all of the current information.

SoVa Motion data has potential to calculate Porsche racing breakthrough
By Sydney Scrogham
If you've had any kind of experience racing cars, you know that one little mistake is enough to lose an entire race. But what if I told you there's a way to predict the how, when and why of those mistakes? What if I told you that those mistakes could start getting cut out entirely? I recently returned to Virginia International Raceway and toured SoVa Motion Tire Labs, also known as the National Tire Research Center. Hidden just before the entrance to VIR, these two buildings record enough data to evolve Porsche racing.

Vision For TUDOR Championship Future Class Structure Revealed
IMSA
Officials from the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) recently confirmed the structure and specifications for all four of its current TUDOR United SportsCar Championship classes through the 2016 season.

“It is important to all of our stakeholders to have a clear understanding of where the TUDOR Championship is headed from a technical standpoint, which we now have established through 2016,” said IMSA Vice President of Competition and Technical Regulations, Scot Elkins. “This will enable our manufacturers to build race cars with these specifications and timelines in mind, and allow our competitors to make fully informed investment decisions for the future.”

Porscheplatz tickets available for TUSC at Virginia International Raceway
PCA
It's professional road racing time again at one of the most historic tracks in the U.S., Virginia International Raceway. Porsche Cars North America and PCA will host our first VIR Porscheplatz during the TUDOR United Sportscar Championship (TUSC) races August 23 – August 24, 2014. Our Porscheplatz features a Porsche-only dedicated car corral and a hospitality tent where you can relax, watch the races on cable TV and hear presentations by Porsche Motors North America, team drivers and sponsors and Porsche only Parade Laps. And as usual, your ticket gives you access to the paddock where you can see the cars and drivers up close and personal. We plan on having the same location for our hospitality tent and corral as in past years for the ALMS races.

Porsche posts higher sales boosted by Macan, Spyder models
Luxury Daily
Porsche North America joins the crowd of luxury automakers boasting increased sales for the first half of 2014. The brand delivered 27,219 vehicles in the United States in the first seven months of the year, an increase of 8.3 percent from the year-ago period. The unstinting sales gains by luxury automakers raises the specter of market saturation, but increasing product stratification across price points likely dampens that fear.

The very few drawbacks of driving the new $845,000 Porsche
Bloomberg Businessweek
In a nondescript brick building in the middle of Stuttgart, Germany, is a nondescript desk where dreams come true. In exchange for a few signatures, a scruffy journalist (or a wealthy sheik) can get the keys to an $845,000 Porsche. "These guys must have very good insurance," thinks the journalist as he shows up for the test drive in a car he could never afford.

1977 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 is mint perfection
BoldRide via Yahoo Autos
Growing up playing with Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, Matt van Wyk always loved the Porsche 911 replicas, a green one in particular. Today, van Wyk’s Porsche is less a pipe-dream toy and instead a reality: a green, somewhat-rare European model, which added to the feeling that he had found something special.

2015 Porsche Cayenne photos and info: Plastic and internal surgery
Car and Driver
Porsche’s guilty pleasure, the Cayenne SUV, is back and ready to keep cash billowing into company coffers. Of course, the Cayenne never left, but for 2015 Porsche has given its purist-infuriating high-performance crossover a modest refresh and swapped in a few new powertrains for good measure. Let’s take a look.

Porsche Carrera GT worth $440,000 left neglected in Canadian parking garage
Yahoo Autos
What was once a gleaming, $440,000 masterpiece is now covered in dust — and has been for over a year. It sits in a Canadian parking garage, neglected and unloved. The battery is dead, and the registration has expired. The passenger's window reads "Clean Me," as bemused passersby wonder why on earth this rare supercar is being left to die. You might assume that the owner of this Porsche Carrera GT had no choice but to leave the car behind.

Porsche builds Macan crossover to win over women
Bloomberg Businessweek
By early 2011, roughly one in two Porsches sold was a Cayenne. The experiment was so successful that Porsche decided to do it again, this time with a smaller SUV. It would be a crossover, a segment for which aficionados harbor a special hate. It’s a class too small to have much utility, yet too large to drive particularly well. “It’s kind of the antithesis of what sports cars are supposed to be all about,” says Bill Visnic, a senior analyst at Edmunds.com. The crossover, known under the code name Cayjun, for Cayenne Junior, was three years in the making and finally rolled into dealerships in April as the Macan.

A few blocks away from Porsche’s swanky museum in Stuttgart, Germany, sits a plain and rather unremarkable warehouse whose contents are anything but unremarkable. Incredibly, the facility is actually the secret warehouse where Porsche stores many of it’s most coveted prototypes and race cars.

Mourning a dying friend: The manual transmission

When I purchased my first Porsche, it had a five-speed manual, of course. A true sports car combined with a manual introduced me to another level of enjoyment. All four of my 968s have also been six-speed manuals. In my eyes, a proper sports car should have nothing else.
