Inaugural Werks Reunion a resounding success
PCA
There was only one event during Monterey Car Week that attracted an astounding variety of over 500 Porsches, Porsche Club of America’s inaugural Werks Reunion: A Porsche Gathering, on August 15. The car corral and concours field had rusty and pristine 356s, painstakingly preserved and restored Porsches of all types, a Porsche Renndienst truck that visited for an hour, mint supercars, and more. Werks Reunion had something for every Porsche enthusiast, and it showed in the sea of spectators who flocked to the free-admittance show.

Get rad: 5 gnar Porsches from the 2014 Werks Reunion, brah
Car and Driver
For 2014, the Porsche Club of America decided to put its own concours on the full-to-burstin’ Pebble Beach–week docket. The first (presumably annual) Werks Reunion, held at the Rancho Cañada golf course, was the result. And while it didn’t enjoy the breadth of factory zazz as the show attached to the recent Porsche Parade, the casual and dedicated Zuff-ophile was sure to find plenty of iron to entertain. Below are five Car and Driver especially enjoyed, plus a gallery full of others.

Register now for Escape to Magical Orlando!
PCA
It is time to register for Escape to Magical Orlando 2014, taking place at the beautiful Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World Nov. 6-9. This is a great event for the whole family. The drives this year are truly exceptional and are filling up. Some of the drives, like the Kennedy Space Center lunch with the Astronauts, are a once in a lifetime event. There will probably never be another gathering of space explorers together in one place at one time. The opportunity to visit two of the greatest race courses in the country during one event is also unmatched.

These drives are rapidly filling up so if you plan to attend please go to ClubRegistration.net and get registered. There is a separate event there for the Goody Store. There will be no on-site Goody Store so order ahead and pick up your merchandise at the event. Take a look at Escape2014.pca.org for all of the current information.

Mark Webber: Porsche factory driver and Porsche fanboy
Red Bull
Mark Webber is midway through his first season as a Porsche World Endurance Championship driver, with the legendary Stuttgart manufacturer having returned to sportscar racing this year with their extreme Porsche 919 Hybrid. When Porsche signed up Webber, they knew they were getting a top-level driver, a guy who’s won the Monaco Grand Prix twice, and who’s got another seven Formula One wins to boast about as well. But it turns out they were also getting a true-blue Porsche fan into the bargain, with a number of the company’s more extreme cars already adorning the Webber private collection.

Porsche Boxster S being driven hard at the Nurburgring
The Sports Car Guys
The Porsche Boxster S is a very good overall performing car. The 981 variant of the roadster is quick enough that it steps on the toes of the base model 911 Carrera. The car has a bit of a dual personality. Perfect for a weekend cruise with the top down or for taking corners at very high speeds on a racetrack. This video features two Boxster S test miles being driven very hard at the Nurburgring.
