Rennsport Reunion IV will feature Porsche Park
Porsche Cars North America Share
With the rolling landscape and park benches on a perfectly-groomed lawn, you might think you were in Bavaria, which is exactly what Porsche Cars North America intends with its Porsche Park-in-the-Paddock - located amongst the vintage race cars at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV, October 14-16. This area, located behind the media center (where the tire companies usually set up for a race weekend), will feature an authentic German biergarten as well as German food and and a park atmosphere so Rennsport attendees can take a break from the on-track activity and absorb the experience. But Rennsport fans will still know that they are at a Porsche event, as the Park-in-the-Paddock will have plenty of sports car activity as well, according to Bernd Harling, Porsche's Principal Communications Counsel and coordinator for Rennsport. Despite a 5.8 earthquake and hurricane Irene, PCA Headquarters continued on
Thankfully PCA Headquarters, located in Columbia, Md., was spared of any damage and electrical outages from the past week's extreme conditions. HQ did not suffer any downtime and was able to keep operations running as usual to serve its members and regions. Special thanks to the members who checked on us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to members along the NE corridor that are still recovering.
This week, our light shines on two Porsches we came across while attending the 2011 Legends of the Autobahn, held during Monterey Auto Week. These two Porsches many would consider are on the opposite ends of the Porsche spectrum. Each are captivating in their own unique way and play an essential role in Porsche history. Andy Tzelepis's original and low mileage 924 and Porsche's racing laboratory the 918 RSR. Videos here.

New Porsche 911 is previewed ahead of Frankfurt Auto Show
The New York Times Share
Porsche previewed its 911 Carrera and Carrera S in advance of their formal reveal, scheduled for the Frankfurt auto show in September. Designated internally as the 991, the new 911 is the seventh generation of the German automaker's 911 sports car. The 911, which had its premiere in 1963, is the foundation on which the company was built - a direct descendant of Ferdinand Porsche's original Porsche 356. But in recent years, volume-oriented Porsche models like the Cayenne S.U.V. and Panamera sedan have sold in larger numbers. More

Will the new Porsche 911 convertible combine canvas and metal roofs?
Convertibles have historically been shuffled into two categories: folding soft tops and retractable hard tops. Now it looks Porsche is looking to blur the line between the two with the roof of the next-generation 911. The crew from GermanCarForum.com managed to lay its hands on a patent drawing that clearly shows a roof design that uses metal panels at the front and rear with two sections of canvas between the two.
