Jumping into the shark tank: My Porsche 928 purchase experience
By Harvey Ferris
I'm not exactly sure when it started, but for a while now I've been entranced with the look of the Porsche 928. Oh, I guess it started a few years back when I picked up a 944 for track usage and naturally got to looking at the 944's big brother. It certainly wasn't because I got excited about them when they were new. I'm sure that in eastern Washington where I lived, I never saw a 928 in the flesh. Whatever, the itch has been there for a while.

Patrick Dempsey and his Dempsey Racing team will continue their partnership in 2014-15 with Porsche. The U.S. actor and race car driver, best known for his role as "McDreamy" in the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," will continue his team's race program with Porsche during the next two seasons.

"We are looking forward to the new season and to many more successful years partnering with Porsche," said Dempsey, who matched his career-best result with a second-place GT Challenge class finish with teammates Andy Lally and Joe Foster in Saturday's Petit Le Mans — the season and series finale of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at the storied Road Atlanta race track.

Lockton Motorsports: HPDE Insurance
MotoIQ
Jonathan Lawson writes, "Back when I first became a track junky in the late 90s, it was very a different scene. High-performance driving events (HPDEs) would sell out within hours of being announced, and people were starting to show up in brand-new cars instead of their old track rats.  Most of them didn’t think for a moment about the chance of losing their car in an on-track incident. They were golden times for some."

Old Porsche Boxster or new Cayman S
The Sports Car Guys
It has been said that the Porsche Cayman is basically a Boxster with a fixed hard-top roof. While there is some truth to that, the mid-engined coupe has a bit more power and some slight styling differences. But, is it worth paying the extra premium to buy a brand new Cayman over an early Boxster?

Porsche center plays to Los Angeles enthusiasts

Building a Porsche Experience Center in this car-crazed city makes perfect sense for the sports car maker, says Detlev von Platen, CEO of Porsche Cars North America. After all, California accounts for 25 percent of his company's sales — roughly 10,000 vehicles a year, which is more than the U.K. and French markets combined.

Chevy Camaro Z/28 outruns Porsche 911 in wet Nürburgring lap
Yahoo Autos
Justin Hyde writes, "Every time I ask a Chevy engineer about the Nürburgring — that "green hell" of German race tracks used as the gold standard of testing by European automakers — I hear a variation of the same response: Yeah, it's good fun, but we use it only to shake things out, and we're not into swapping hot laps with the competition."

Video: The Million-Mile Porsche 356
Petrolicious Productions
It takes a lot of driving, work, and a little bit of luck to achieve nearly a million miles in one car. Guy Newmark has been driving one car for forty-five years, a beautiful blue 356, and he has no thoughts of driving any other. After a million miles, Guy finds himself almost sad when he pulls the car into the garage, so he sometimes invents errands in order to keep on driving. With a car still as fun to drive as the day it rolled off the assembly line, this is easy to see why.
