PCA Escape 2013 provides thrills in Los Angeles
By Jason Zammit
Welcome to Escape to LA 2013. The plan for the day was for some exciting mountain driving through Los Angeles Crest Highway, visiting Mount Wilson Observatory and talking everything Porsche with like-minded new friends. Our group of about 50 Porsches drove 35 miles from The Sheraton Fairplex and gathered at the Shell Service Station at the base of Wrightwood and the I-15. As the "tail" vehicle, my responsibility was to ensure any drivers that got lost or had any problems were taken care of. As it turns out, I was the one who had a problem that day.

A unique and successful history links Porsche with Le Mans. 2014 will see Porsche making a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans race with two LMP1 prototypes — 16 years after its overall victory in 1998 with the Porsche GT1. For Porsche, the coming year will mark the start of a long-term commitment to the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Beside the 24h endurance championship Porsche also participates in seven 6h races.

5 favorite Porsche 911s of all time
TheStreet
The Porsche 911 turned 50 years old this fall, but the iconic sports car still boasts all of its youthful good looks — and here's a rundown of five of the best 911s of all time. "There have been countless variations of the 911, but some shine a little more brightly than the others," says Pete Stout of Panorama magazine, the official publication of the 109,000-member Porsche Club of America.

A genuine Porsche 911 police car
USA TODAY
Of all the cars we've encountered for our Show Us Your Car series, this has to be a favorite. A significant piece of automotive history? Probably not. Enormously fun? Absolutely! It's a 1974 Porsche 911 police car. Over the years, we've seen sports cars and supercars dressed up as police cars, but it's generally all for show. This, according to its owner, Guus Reinerink of Duiven, the Netherlands, is the real thing.

Will the 960 kill the GT2?
By Conner Golden
Ever since Matthias Müller quietly confirmed the planned production of a sub-918 Ferrari-fighting supercar — dubbed the Porsche 960 — the enthusiast blogs have been erupting with excitement and publishing poorly rendered mock-ups as to what the mystery supercar might look like. Performance is expected to come in underneath the 918 Spyder, but still capable of trouncing its rivals from McLaren and Ferrari. This presents quite the quandary when you take a look at the future Porsche lineup, particularly if you focus on the performance variants in the 911 range.

If you want a weird Porsche 911 then you need the Sbarro Challenge III
Jalopnik
In the 1980s, Sbarro built a car called the Challenge III. It was based on a 911 chassis and used Porsche's 3.3 liter engine. Its looks were more X-Wing than 911, and Sbarro only built ten of them. Now one of the ten can be yours.
