1. Finding your point of entry to the timeless world of Porsche
By Skip Kuhn
I recently made a couple of observations about the current Porsche business model. The first one was that an entry-level Porsche was best defined as a used Porsche. The second observation was that Porsche has definitely been targeting a broader and less traditional customer base with the introduction of the SUV and sedan product lines. Now, fast-forward a few months to comments by Detlev von Platen, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. Apparently, I was merely an observer of what Porsche had already decided.

2. Daumen drücken: Exploring the history of the 928's birth
By Pablo Deferrari
I thrust myself from bed in a cold sweat. It was just before 4 a.m., Saturday morning no less. I was backed up against a wall in the car delivery hall of the Zuffenhausen plant with Dr. Ernst Fuhrmann jabbing his finger in my chest, while Herr Helmuth Bott and Herr Heinz Branitzki flanked him, asking me to make a decision — fast. I would have been quick with a confident response while containing myself from laughing uncontrollably at his preposterous and completely out of character reaction, but I wasn't. Instead, a cold spike of fear thrust up my spine — I couldn't decide.

3. "I'm that person" — Nichole Danova, PCA 2014 Spring Raffle Winner, shares her story
I am that person. The person who has always dreamed of owning a Porsche and when I finally achieved that dream, I was blessed with a 911 Carrera 4. In just days, and with all the effervescent enthusiasm of a newly certified driver, I was a signed, sealed, and delivered new member of Porsche Club of America, but maybe this isn’t so unusual.

I’m also that person who soon after joining PCA, realized that despite my initial enthusiasm, and the very kind, welcoming members of my local Pocono chapter, I quickly drifted away from regular attendance. I didn’t make time to attend meetings after work, always seemed too busy to attend group outings, although I did at least manage to attend and thoroughly enjoy the holiday year-end party. Once again, maybe this isn’t so unusual.

The unusual twist to my story is, knowing I was helping my local chapter, and never imagining a possibility of actually winning a new Porsche, I have regularly purchased two tickets as soon as the annual members only raffle was announced.

5. This video of 2 Porsches prove that the days of shifting gears are over
Business Insider
In a recent episode of English car show "Fifth Gear," host Jason Plato tested a pair of brand-new Porsche Cayman sports cars — one with a traditional manual transmission, the other with a semi-automatic PDK gearbox. These days, roughly 90 percent of all cars sold in the US shift gears automatically. The last bastions of the manual transmission are ultra-affordable econoboxes and high performance vehicles. And really, it's the econoboxes that feature the old-school gearshift. Very few true sports cars still have sticks. However, even those may be going away.
