AT&T said it plans to spend nearly $1 billion in additional capital expenditure in 2011 to keep up with wireless growth and prepare for the rollout of its LTE network this summer. In January, AT&T said it planned to spend about $19 billion on capex. But during the company's second-quarter earnings call, AT&T CFO John Stephens increased that number to $20 billion for the year. Some of that money will be allocated to bolster capacity on its 3G network by adding additional backhaul and radios. Global Tower Partners announced that it closed its $645,000,000 Secured Tower Revenue Notes Global Tower Series 2011-2 on July 7, 2011. The Company issued $490,000,000 Series C Notes (rated A2(sf)/A(sf) by Moody's and Fitch respectively) and $155,000,000 Series F notes (rated Ba3(sf)/BB-(sf) by Moody's and Fitch respectively). Efforts to give U.S. regulators the authority to auction off some television airwaves for mobile broadband use are getting a boost in a debt ceiling plan proposed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The auctions have the potential to raise $15 billion in revenue, according to Reid's plan, with some of the proceeds going to broadcasters as compensation. More |
