Franz Bakery Earns Federal Kudos for its Energy Efficiency

Century-old Franz Bakery took a big step into a sustainable future when it was named a "Save Energy Now Energy Champion" plant by the U.S. Department of Energy. The bakery, the largest family-owned and independent bakery on the West Coast, earned the award for cutting its energy costs by 15 percent at its Portland facility. The bakery underwent an energy assessment with the DOE Industrial Technologies Program to improve its efficiency. More
