The annual Meeting of Members of the Radiology Business Management Association will be held at Hilton New Orleans Riverside, New Orleans, on Tuesday, June 7, at approximately 8 a.m. RBMA's Bylaws, Article IV, Section 3 require notification not more than sixty and not less than five days prior to the date of such meeting.

A feature of previous Annual Members' Meetings has been the election of the Slate of Candidates for the RBMA Board of Directors. Recent changes in the Illinois not-for-profit statute, RBMA's state of incorporation, and to RBMA's Bylaws permit the election to be conducted electronically.

Only Active (Voting) Members may vote on the Slate of Candidates which consists of nominees for four Regional Director and four Director-At-Large positions. All active members should have received the link for the electronic ballot. If you have not received it send a message to Ballots are due April 29.

The results of the election will be announced at the 2011 Annual Members' Meeting and the new Directors will take office immediately upon the conclusion of the meeting.

The American Hospital Association has publicly said its constituents are "deeply disappointed" by a proposed rule for fiscal 2012 issued by the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services. Effective for discharges occurring on or after Oct. 1, 2011, the proposed rule would decrease average inpatient payments to acute-care hospitals by approximately 0.5 percent, or $498 million, compared with fiscal 2011. The average per capita cost of healthcare services covered by commercial insurance and Medicare grew 6.19 percent over the 12 months ending in February 2011, but those rates of growth continue to decelerate, Standard & Poor's Healthcare Economic Indices show. February's results reflect a deceleration in healthcare cost growth from the 6.31 percent increase in annual growth rate posted in January 2011 for this index, S&P said. More
