Social media log on and enterprise risk management at odds
Information Management
The irresistible force of social media is colliding with the immovable object of enterprise risk management, and organizations need to take steps to ensure that social identities reach "business grade," according to a recent report from Constellation Research. Improve BYOD risk management
Midsize Insider
If it seems as though everyone is using their personal mobile device for work, it is because almost everyone is. According to a recent PwC survey, 88 percent of consumers use their smartphones and tablets for both personal and business; however, these personally owned devices are often used in ways that would never be acceptable if they were company-owned devices. Entitlement issues
Human Resource Executive Online
Character traits associated with entitled workers, such as an aversion to critical feedback, suggest they are more likely to create trouble on the job than their coworkers, new academic research shows. Psychologically entitled employees — those who have unjustified positive self-perceptions and can be narcissistic — are more likely than other employees to claim their bosses are abusive, according to research released recently from the University of New Hampshire.

Is anyone actually thinking about risk?
Healthcare IT News
The idea of risk management in information security has always been a bit difficult to pin down. For example, there is too little historical and behavioral data to identify trends or make predictions with confidence. Information security risk management is hard. And with most things in business, hard problems aren't always solved but instead businesses often times work around them.

Culture, oversight and fraud prevention
Risk
As businesses change in response to new regulation, ranging from the Bribery Act and Fatca to Solvency II, their exposure to fraud risk changes as well. Anti-fraud precautions, then, are a key part of managing regulatory change. But operational risk managers could be going about fraud prevention the wrong way — soft defenses such as cultural change and informal intelligence can be better than formal checks which can be bypassed.
