US leads in clean power investment — for now
CNN    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Federal support for renewable power helped the United States reclaim from China the title of the world's biggest investor in clean energy, researchers for the nonprofit Pew Charitable Trusts reported. The $48 billion in U.S. private investment in wind turbines and solar panels edged out China's $45.5 billion in 2011, Pew researchers found in a new study. Worldwide, investors put $263 billion into renewable energy projects last year — a 6.5 percent increase over 2010 — and the cost of producing electricity from solar power was cut in half, the study found. Solar gets union support in Pennsylvania
Clean Energy Authority    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Pennsylvania's solar market was booming — then it slumped almost overnight as the price for solar renewable energy credits dropped because of the boom in installations. Now, legislation winding its way through the state may help fix that. And its got a lot of support from legislators on both sides, businesses and labor. Most recently, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers showed up in support of HB 1580. "International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers support was very important," said Peter Olmsted, director of the Mid-Atlantic Policy for the Vote Solar Initiative. More

SECUSOL - the first solar thermal appliances

is a solar thermal hybrid system. The storage tank, with an integrated drainage reservoir, receives all fluid from the collectors and solar piping loop when the solar pump is idle. SECUSOL eliminates the pump station and expansion tank to account for stagnation. A „matched-flow“ solar controller accounts for on-demand operation. The SECUSOL systems is preassembled at the Wagner factory to cut installation time to 4-6 hours. Contact us.

Renewables driving electricity prices below $0 some afternoons
Clean Technica    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind have been outstripping the electricity supply of traditional baseload power plants during daytime, especially afternoons, in some renewable-leading countries of late. Electricity demand tends to increase during the sunniest (the hottest) hours, and solar power plants generate more electricity when it is sunnier, which is right on cue. More

Clean Technica    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
As written by Zachary Shahan, "Last time I wrote on the popularity of going solar through a service, someone from Sunrun got in touch with me and we had a nice back-and-forth about more of the details of going solar through Sunrun. I've been meaning to come back to writing a post about that since then. Basically, the discussion centered around some of the more hidden benefits of going solar through solar leasing or power purchase agreements — in particular, for those who can afford it, going with a prepaid solar service versus owning a system."
