SEIA applauds Massachusetts' new solar goals

The Solar Energy Industries Association applauded an announcement that Massachusetts has surpassed Gov. Deval Patrick's goal of installing 250 megawatts of solar energy by 2017, and the administration plans to expand the Massachusetts solar goal to 1.6 gigawatts. The 250-megawatt benchmark has been met nearly four years ahead of schedule.

Solar plane makes last test flight before Across America trip

The Solar Impulse solar-powered airplane made history in 2010 when it embarked on the first-ever, solar-powered night flight and again in 2012 when it made the first intercontinental solar-powered flight from Europe to North Africa. Now the co-founders and pilots of Solar Impulse have announced plans to conduct the first solar-powered, coast-to-coast United States flight — Solar Impulse Across America — kicking off early in May.

Verizon's $100 million fuel cell and solar power play

Verizon has just pledged $100 million to the premise that solar power and fuel cells can pay for themselves over time. New York real estate company going green with solar panels

In an effort to become more environmentally friendly and to save on energy bills, a Rego Park-based real estate company in New York has installed solar panels on the rooftops of its more than two dozens buildings in the city. Triumph Real Estate Management LLC, which has approximately 30 buildings, most of them in Queens, some in Washington Heights and in Riverdale in The Bronx, began the green makeover about two years ago.

Greenpeace China becomes the biggest solar power producer in Beijing

On April 17 in Beijing, Greenpeace made a bit of history: It joined the first batch of around 50 rooftop solar photovoltaic projects that connected to the grid in China. And to the company’s surprise, it learned that its modest, five-kilowatt solar system is actually the biggest rooftop solar power project currently in Beijing.
