    The falling cost of solar panel production in the United States is giving solar innovators financial leeway to add technologies and expand into new markets, industry leaders say, enabling them to meet growing demand. "As the U.S. solar market continues to mature and grow, it is vital for every company to find a competitive edge...and diversification is increasingly part of the business model," Rhone Resch, president and CEO of Solar Energy Industries Association, told reporters on a conference call.     SolarCity announced the creation of a new fund to finance an additional $158 million in commercial and residential solar projects in 2011 in partnership with a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp. The $158 million fund increases SolarCity's total solar project financing funds to more than $1 billion, and the company now has more than 14,000 solar customers. More

    SRP relaunches solar power rebate in Arizona

    Good news for Arizona residents who are customers of Salt River Project: the Arizona utility recently relaunched its popular solar rebate program after a months-long hiatus during which an interim rebate was available. As of May 1, SRP customers who install a residential solar photovoltaic energy system will be eligible to receive a rebate worth $1.35 per watt. More

    RTI International, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor, has been asked to assist in identifying Solar Energy Systems Engineers to participate in a project that helps accurately describe their occupation. The project needs individuals who have at least five years experience as a practicing or supervising Solar Energy Engineer and are still performing in the occupation. Qualified volunteers are asked to complete questionnaires about the tasks, work context, and knowledge requirements of their occupation.
